** GT REPLACEMENT - Watercooling Optimised Fan **

because when it is strapped to a radiator that has been specifically chosen for that application you really dont need to go messing about with the fan profile and duty cycle % you can just use a splitter to get optimum noise/performance or just a fan controller like most people with larger loops do. Alternatively if you dont care about the noise you likely wont care about the DC% either so it might as well be plugged in all the time at 12V.

Alternatively having no PWM also means that the price point per fan can be much more agreeable to a watercooler replacing a large number of fans.

pretty bad. these have been in stock since the 23rd but my triple pack is still in the warehouse queue. I'll give it another 24 hours to ship.

whats the order number? have you contacted the CS guys?

the samples landed yesterday. Given them a go and they seem to be exactly what I have asked for.

initial impressions:
- the build quality is very good for the price they will be.
- cables on the samples arent final, they will be black
- i have also asked for black three pin connectors too
- sound output is quite low considering the amount of air they put out.
- put on a rad with a gentle typhoon, the fan pushes a little less air through the fins in honesty.
- the fan is about the same volume as a 1850 gt.
- the fan needs a fan controller to get the most out of it.

They look plain,
But from the price points you mention that's fine, mounting wise they have no special features, but again these look and sound like they're going to be real value for money.
I'll probably grab 4, might replace my Piranha's if they're good. the fans aren't really a feature in my build.

I think they look perfect. Very GT-ish :-)

If they have similar real-world performance to GTs i might get some myself and spray the blades grey :p

im trying to make it so they appeal to the maximum number of people possible.

black fans are the cheapest to make
these are obviously a bit dearer due to the PBT plastic on the blades

what i wanted was something easy to work with and easy to mod.

for anyone looking to mod these, the blades just pop off really easily by the way so you can spray the frames and blades with minimal fuss.

Great - so when can we expect stock of these, would like to order a 4 pack for my 480 rad:D

why are the new versions not 4-pin?
surely 4-pin allows for the best of both worlds?

If it's because not all 3-pin connectors can fit a 4 pin connector... then someone needs to invent a connector like the 6/8-pin PCI-e cables!

I guess it is just added expense considering most watercoolers wont use PWM

But yeah, a 4pin would allow more flexibility if someone did want to use PWM

What I'm planning to do with one of my systems (it's been in the planning stage for some time, despite having all the bits) is have one rad where the fans are controlled via PWM by the CPU and one where the fans are controlled, via PWM, by the 1st graphics card. Both will use a splitter with Molex connection to actually power the fans, just want the speed control done by hardware.

That way it can be dynamic. Fans really low when idle and then ramp up when gaming, much like with the air coolers, but hopefully not as much.

EDIT:
How about 4-pin with a really short converter cable included, like they did/do with molex connectors?

I swear he mentioned why earlier in the thread. This fan is aimed at water coolers who are likely to be using fan controllers so have no need of 4 pins. Only having 3 pins also brings down the costs a bit.

Googly, just buy an aquero, problem solved on all fronts :)

@Rich, fans look superb, plain black canvas is fine by me, will be looking to buy 8 before xmas.
