What did you do to your bike today?

I called them to see if I could ride home without my licence plate, they said I could but didn't get involved in the case as he admitted full liability in front of 2 witnesses.

Might be a write off, I'm guessing it's a cheapish bike - fairings, exhaust, rear brake plus a few other bits, and possible frame/swingarm damage :( Good that he's admitted responsibility, make sure to get witness details/statements just in case though, car drivers have a habit of changing thier mind... (you'll have been going 50mph/pulling a wheelie according to the drivers recollection! :p)

I received mine back from repair after the crash. 72 days on a boring NC700... man I'm happy to have her back!

@kreee I don't think they will write it off tbh, depends how hard the impact was but it looks straight to me in those pics

trouble is insurance companies are quick to write off perfectly fixable machines

Cleaned it, ACF50'd it, and it's now under cover until next year. Problem is, all the track days and Spain will now disappear and in March I'll not be able to ride for toffee again lol. Maybe I need to man up :-) Was looking through and found a nice piccie, bike looks sweet me thinks. Think I pay £92 quid fully comp for my bike now... then again it is 15 years old and worth nowt lol. If I ever came off, I'd never claim off insurance... waste of time.

Thank you, it does tend to turn heads. Been out for a couple of rides this afternoon in the sunshine (collections & deliveries) and loved every mile. Big smile all over my face. :D

It's worth around 2-2.5k.

I'm not sure if I want a write off or not. I hated bike hunting but I bet it won't the same after repair. The gears felt weird on the ride home :(

I have had a load of crashes but never rear ended. Thats truly the thing that scares me the most is being taken out and not seeing it coming. Hope youre OK Kreeee. The bike can be fixed but that looks really sore.

As for me... some new cbr1000rr parts

Yeah start of september mate. I qualified for the pro race in irish superbikes. Was making a bold move that didnt stick would have put me 5th in the pro race and 1st in the cup. Gutted.

Live and learn

Took "Nellie" for her yearly trial by MOT tester, all done for another year with no advisories, bliss.

After my off in may and broken collarbone (still not fused dammit) The third part has admitted full liability.

2 offs in 6 months, both no fault resets your No claims, Insurance in this country needs significant government examination its a rip off. You cant carry no claims over from a car but a accident on a bike effects a car policy. Its a disgrace.

MOT today (and noticed the Hornet is now just over 30k on the clock :D).

Advisories:
  • Front tyre close to legal limit (yup, knew about it, I've been lazy and haven't replaced)
  • Rear brake pad worn close to limit (not expecting that. I've gone through 2 rears now and still on the same fronts, although I did go pretty cheap last time).

Ordered:
  • Goldfren S33 rear break pads (sintered, get good reviews)
  • Michelin Pilot Road 4 front tyre (have had Pilots on this bike since I bought it, currently have a 3 on the back, love them)
  • Chain & sprockets set (have wanted to do for a while and it'll be ideal to do brakes and chain+sprockets at same time, x-ring this time and I have a Scottoiler which will be on from day 1 so should last a while)
  • Chain breaker / riveter - £30 and saves me paying someone probably more in labour and can use on future bikes

Looking forward to new stuff especially as my chain has been annoying me (noisy, seems to get loose quickly) and my rear brakes don't feel particularly good either :D

You only lose NCD if you claim against your own policy, which you shouldn't be doing if the third party is liable.

^ I thought this also? I had two non fault claims this year in the space of 1 month and didn't effect either of my NCB and neither did admiral group declare my bike accident on the car insurance.

well that was crap at pidcocks triumph in long eaton, just back after getting there at 11 for a rear tyre to be fitted, they put on the job sheet customer waiting then leave them there for 2hrs without a"sorry we are backlogged can you come back in a few hours or give you a ring when it done". there is only so much you can look at in a shop were you don't really like there bikes hahaha, then to cap it all he tried to charge me £30 when they said 15. ,customer service is everything and keeps people coming back, just keep the customer informed and not just walking a round a shop for 2hrs with no info
