*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Not willing to have an ethernet cable run the length of the house and up the stairs. Never had an issue with WiFi before though, only now with the PS4.

Needed a better router anyway - but I think you're right though, since the PS4 do not support the new AC standard, so will just use the powerline adapters when they come.

I've been using power line adaptors for years.. think they are great. For my set up I have a switch from the adaptor in my room, which then feeds pc,wdtv, sky and ps4. No issues at all.

Another oddity - seems like the wifi on the PS4 pretty much sucks donkey.
My Xbox360 sat in the same place as where the PS4 now resides, but the connection strength only sits at 58% - 60% max. The PS4 speedtest gives me around 500kb/s with an upstream of 1mb :(

Ordered a new/ better router, so hopefully that will sort it - if not I'll try the power ethernet jobbies.

Don't game on wi fi, it's just another layer of error correction for your data packets to go through.

I've had no real issues with PSN (other than the things that affect everyone like downtime). If you're having trouble joining games or having stuff not load try adding your PS4 to the DMZ on your router.

Aaaaand like every night at around this time psn goes into melt down and refuses to load my friends list without having to reboot my console. I'm starting to get sick of this now. I hope 2.0 brings with it a fix for this, unless it's server side then they need to upgrade!

PSN is so so so slow. My mate bought PS4, tried to add him (and via versa) and neither of us received a friend request straightaway, it is so bad seriously.

Friend list, last met and trophies page are super slow too and I always get errors.

I hate how long it takes to load anything in any menu, settings...sits there spinning away, and people say it's better than the xbox one.

I did this to try and fix 'Strict NAT' that Destiny keeps reporting when I load it up. My PS4 connection test says Type 2, but Destiny is adamant that I have strict NAT.

I've tried port forwarding aswell, made no difference.

I don't get any of the problems you guys are describing. Everything is quick for me. I do add friends with the app though, it's much easier to do there.

I have never seen anyone say it's better than X1, everyone moans about PSN like, all of the time.

For the record, I have zero problems with PSN, MP is fine, voice chat is fine, store is fine, everything is fine!

Exactly what problems are people experiencing? Maybe it's a connection/location thing? I really don't know...

though the console is not lightning fast as we have come to expect on pc! But i don't personally feel like the speed in menus adding friends ect is a bad speed ive never been annoyed by the speed it runs at anyway

And as for the previous question of what if sony offered a different subscription without the free games i think i would stick with the free games

Even though there is some not to great titles that get handed to us every now and there a brilliant title gets thrown in there! Though it has not released yet three days and we get a free version of drive club. although its not the full version but i still think that giving away a major title like that for free it great! Ive enjoyed a lot of the free games that have already been released on the ps4 since i got it a few months after launch!

I dont know if this might help, but if anyone has problems with menus not loading that rely on the internet in some manner like the store, or the library, trophies or whatever else. If you go into your settings and do an internet connection test then that may fix it. I usually find after playing a game and cant go into the store after, and this fixes it. Its some kind connection time out to long error.

had my PS4 a month or so (wife bought it me as a birthday present)

not overly impressed so far

noisey in games (think the fans are worse than my old PS3)

menu system ??? what did they do - I though the PS3 menu system was bad - the PS4 one seems worse ?

in game - doesn't feel as lightning fast as it should do

overall a bit disappointed - lets hope they develop the menus etc further

I remember reading recently that the next major firmware will have large menu changes with folders and stuff. I would expect it around November when the Xperia remote play firmware is released.

Fans on mine are pretty good. TLoU pushes them the hardest but no noise that isn't to be expected.

There's a few features I miss, MP3 playback, DLNA and suspend in particular.

I've seen plenty of people at other forums say it's better than the X1.

I'm not talking about MP/anything else I'm talking purely about the menus on the PS4 that you access that seemingly require data that is stored on the net, it sits there saying please wait, take for example going into settings>psn that says please wait... Then go wallet settings, that says please wait....it's fruatrating especially when Sony turn on wallet funding every time I redeem a three month PSN code.

My ps4 is hard wired to my router and I have 55mbps internet. MP plays fine, no complaints about that from me.

This is why MS and Sony should come together. Sony is rubbish at software and Microsoft is rubbish at hardware. :p

And together they would dominate the market, and charge through the roof for crap hardware and crap software because they have a monopoly.

Then no one will buy it because it costs to much and the console market would crash and everyone would go to PC and mobile gaming. I personally would love a one system console, then no more exclusives to a particular company and everyone can enjoy.
