**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

I got my review unit yesterday, what are the real differences between the Z3 and the Z2? Looking through the specs, they look almost identical.

It definitely is a well made unit, but the weight of it negates the 'thinness' for me. I think I also prefer a rubberised back cover, over glass.

You confused the sim flap for the volume rocker?! and the lanyard hole for a micro usb port?? :o
Surely you must know the little differences sony made that make it much better than the Z2?

Ha ha, no. Where I would expect to see a volume rocker, I saw what looked like a volume rocker...

And... the lanyard is almost identical size to a MicroUSB port... I have a habit of just saying what comes into my head.

Did you think a Micro USB and Micro SD are the same thing? ;)

Surely you must know the little differences sony made that make it much better than the Z2?

I try not to read/watch about the devices too much as I don't want to be influenced by other people. I look up the specs on GSMArena and off I go! The specs are almost identical.

Battery life is proving to be amazing, especially compared to my old Nokia 930. Phones been off charge for 16 hours and 40 minutes, with 3 hours and 20 minutes screen time, still at 44% battery.

New case arrived today. CaseMate 'Tough'. I work in a harsh environment (No not mumsnet) so I need.. protection!

I can't show you what it looks like with the phone because, well, it hasn't turned up yet!! :o

Will there ever be a 32GB version?

Nothing irritates me more about the smartphone world than this.

I actually cant believe we are still getting £500 flagships with only 16gb of memory.

I mean seriously? You can buy 64gb of branded class 10 flash memory in microsd format for under £20 these days yet we still only get 16gb in flagship phones?

It would literally cost the manufacturers an extra tenner or so to throw in 64gb of onboard memory but no.

Also, if you go on the Apple website it costs £80 more to get the 64gb model (compared with the 16gb). Absolute consumer milking at its finest.

NAND/Flash memory has got cheaper and cheaper yet todays flagships still have the same onboard memory as flagships from 4 years ago.

If you want somthing small go with the compact, somthing that's waterproof, looks very nice and has very good battery life go with the X3 or somthing with an incredible screen, ample room for apps and a pen go for the note.
Quite possibly more to it that that ;)

Mrk, in your review when your phone is charging it has a nice desk clock style display, how did you get it to do this? My day dream options does not have a desk clock and I cant seem to get it to work...

That's just the lockscreen :p When docked I tap the power button and it shows the lockscreen with clock/events etc.

Just had an email from Amazon - apparantly the official windowed cover has been delayed until 5th of November!!!

Screw that, time to locate some decent screen protectors and be done

Gosh this phone keeps looking at me.
Waiting for the Note 4 currently... I'm using a Nexus 5 and want something bigger. Hmmmm Mmmmm

You really should read up a bit more.
Also just watched the rest of the video and you cant seem to find the speaker? The Z3 has front stereo speakers. One at the top and one at the bottom, just like the Z2 ;)

Yes, just received the same email. Absolutely ridiculous! These things should be ready and available the day the phones are released. How hard can it be to have stock manufactured and available for your new, expensive, flagship phones?

It's like this with all these phone manufacturer's - they never seem to be able to co-ordinate their official cases to be out the same time as the phones! You'd think it would be the other way round lol.

I cancelled my order and went for the Invisible Defender 3+1 screen protector pack instead. No way is my phone gunna last unscathed till november - my main priority is getting that back covered with something thats not as slippery. Nearly had it fall off my desk at work today!

At home it just slides off my all oak furniture as the furniture is waxed - it makes a good spirit level physically lol

Crazy isn't it. Their own cases are always ridiculously over priced, but they'd still shift a load if they made sure they were available at launch.

Savvies rear protectors now available on the bay to the E site,

I ordered some from rain forest due to them not being on the bay the other day!

I'm tempted to just put a rear protector and go bare on the front, anyone else doing the same?

Glass one for the front? They're pretty nice, just fitted one to the wife's Note 3 and I'm impressed. Cost a fiver.
I've got a glass one on my Z2 now from the local phone accessory shop as a freebie, whilst its far better feel wise than plastic I find it to be quite thick and adds a bit of weight to the handset

Did you get a Nilkin one or some other one?
