Anybody here work for Amazon (in the returns department)?

The fact the account is closed is irrelevant however; they've still broken the law in that they're keeping my money for no reason. When a company cancels your account, it doesn't give them the right to just break the law.

I have lots of ranting to do about them closing my account but I'll save that for another day.

I agree with you.

The reason I brought the account being closed by amazon was to enforce the reason why they're being awkward.

Initially at the start of the thread I and others were finding it hard to believe that amazon could be so awkward, as usually a quick phonecall solves things. Especially with regards to returns as amazon do advance replacements (sending items before they've received old ones back etc, advance refunds once your item has been collected etc)

But as they've closed the account normal customer service agents can not do anything hence them being awkward.

Ultimately you'll get the desired end result, you've sent an item and you have proof of delivery.

The "amazon" signature is nothing out of the ordinary either, I've returned many items and noticed that instead of a signature of an individual it just appears as "amazon"

At this stage I'd be contacting city link to confirm delivery (even though tracking shows it, but just as another way of 100% confirmation), then onto small claims court.....

Without a real signature though it's quite possible that the City Link driver nicked off with your item and Amazon are telling the truth about having not received it.

My understanding of signing for parcels is that you are accepting responsibility for the parcel, just who did City Link hand responsibility of your parcel over to?? if City Link can't give you a name then Amazon are in a good position to argue that they never received it, which is why I'd be chasing City Link to find who they handed responsibility of the parcel over to.

If this ends up going to the small claims court, I think I may try to get my account reinstated. If I'm going to have a chance to get a decent response for once, I may as well get some more information, at the very least into their procedures on closing accounts.

It's £60 to open a small claims case and that gives Amazon 14 days to get a response to me. At this point, I suspect Amazon will cough up and pay, on the basis that I don't share any more info with the world. I may try and do a bit of bargaining to get my account reinstated - it can't hurt can it ;)

I haven't done this yet BTW but it seems like this is what is going to happen.

What did City Link say when you spoke to them?

I'd be looking at going after them rather than Amazon, not getting a signature is a basic failure on their part if you've paid for it. The way I see it is how are you going to prove that Amazon received it without an employee signature?

What do the resident lawyers think? am I barking up the wrong tree?

I tend to only order from Amazon themselves and not other sellers on their website. On a couple of items which I was not happy with or the item did not fit, I was able to print out a returns label for Collect+ service, then I took the item to my local Collect+ shop and a couple of hours later Amazon would refund me.

They do have a signature. It's perfectly normal for Amazon returns to be signed for by AMAZON (see above).

Like I said before the driver could have signed that and took it himself, it's not really a persons signature (proof of delivery) is it? do you sign for your items as 'House'? if you did and the courier accepted it you could turn around to the company you ordered from and claim that you have never received it, how would they prove you had?

Funny :p

I've sent one final email to Amazon. If I get no joy I'll setup my claim tomorrow - luckily I can do it online!

I'll update this thread as things progress, unless of course they make me say nothing as a condition of giving me my money back - can they do that?

I do :) but I doubt I could give you any help other than keep at customer services. We get a lot, lot and lot of stuff returned and if we had to sign for every package it would really take a lot of time and employees :) When did you send it back maybe it's still waiting to be processed.

Ah that's a while ago would have been processed by now if we had it, I really can't be much help as I don't access customer accounts or anything that is all done by much higher up Amazonians :)

Do hope you get it sorted though :)

To be honest I've returned lots of things. I'd say I'm a serial exchanger.

There's nothing untoward at all, it's just I buy things and find faults in them, and they bug me so much that I need to exchange them. It's hard to explain but it's like a weird ocd.

Like it could be a console and the fan noise is high, I'll then proceed to exchange it several times until I get one I can tolerate, but I can't tolerate any and then I end up getting a refund.

I've done the same with TVs for backlight bleed, or plasma with buzzing. I literally get to the stage where anything I buy I'm not happy with. And until I return it it I can't relax. I know the problem is me.

Amazons return policy is like a drug, knowing you can buy things and if you're not happy can return it no questions asked. Before jumping on Alec, he might well be like that, as opposed to the shady thoughts that people jump to the conclusion of, I.e doing something illegal.

This thread made me look at my Amazon account, and in 6 months and 20 items I've kept 3 lol. It's literally been me going through countless monitors and not tolerating iPS glow, backlight bleed or vertical banding and Samsung phones with un-uniform screens and purple smearing. The thing is in the traditional sense these things aren't "faulty" to the average person, most people put up with things, but when you have a problem like this its very hard to understand unless you're the same.

I wondered when somebody would have a go about that.

The fact that my account is closed is irrelevant. Amazon are breaking the law. Because they're a big company, it does not give them the right to do this.

Maybe so but if you're using things and then returning them or sending them back damaged I can see why they would be annoyed. Why are you so coy behind the reason your ban.

I've never had to return any items to anywhere except for clothes that don't fit and I've been shopping online for 11 years.
