had this idea earlier........

some people probably don't know or care about this, but if you know....

try work out what percentage of your wage you spend on fuel/train tickets etc

so..say it costs £10 to get to work for the week and you make £400 in that week 10/400 = 2.5%

no need to post how much you make or spend as that's not really the point
just the percentage

3-mile commute. First 2.5 miles is by bus, then walk the rest. £2 bus fare each way, so £20 per week. Take-home per week is £220, so commute cost is 9.1%.

Aren't you quite severely visually impaired? You can't get a FREE Bus Pass? You should look into (Yeah..I know..bad pun..:o) getting a Bus/Rail Pass could save you some cash hopefully! :)

A girl up the road from me (Single Mum of 3) who doesn't have to work but does on Minimum Wage was telling me she has to borrow money just to be able to get to work (10+ Miles away) some weeks and has had to take days off simply due to being unable to afford to get there.

Yes I am visually impaired! I do have the disabled person's rail card (same as young person's @ 33% off ticket price), so I will make some enquiries about a bus pass. Thanks :-)

Absolutely nothing,except my energy. :p

I push bike it too and from work each day,Bear in mind its only a couple of miles away...done some miles on that bike i tell you. :)

Roughly 1.7% of my take home pay ... used to be about twice that but I can now get one season ticket which covers both parts of the journey in one go rather than getting separate tickets for each.
