how much does it cost you to get to work?

110 miles there and back a day, £51 for monthly bus pass, £60 for trains a week, £75 for taxis a week, I only pay for the bus pass though.

0.7% but the commute time factors in...

200 miles per week.

Car does 320* per fill up
I fill up 45L* per time
45 x 1.29* = £58*

so 2.5 Fill ups per month @ £58 = £145 per month.

That's 12% of my monthly wage, Not including bits and bods i do on the side so more like 7%

People also don't add on their commuting hours to their working day.

doesn't change the percentage of your wage you spend on getting there though
can't really say 'I could be making x amount every hour I travel' otherwise you wouldn't be travelling :D
could make your hourly rate seem lower, if you were to work it out that way

About 13%
Large diesel vs urban driving = not very cost effective (my only solace is that its fantastic on motorways as we go away most weekends)

I'm around £17 per day in fuel costs. Depending on what car I take, obviously. £374 per month if I do a full 22 day month. So about 15% of my basic salary.

5.3% using public transport and it's far FAR too expensive. If I moved a bit sideways and used a different line it would only be 4.2%.

I'm seriously considering switching to public transport, it would reduce my commute costs by about 50%, so about 4% of my take home.

The issue is I'd have to get the rush hour train and it would add about 2 hours to my working day.

Not really a sacrifice I'm ready to make.

Interesting thread though!

£60 a month on fuel so 3.75%

Ah wait a minute, not driving that car at the mo, lets rethink that for the thirsty one..

£135 a month on fuel so 8.4%

Flippin eck... Best stop driving that. :D
