how much does it cost you to get to work?

About £118.00 every 3-4 weeks. 89L diesel fill up.
A return bus ticket every day (which takes over an hour each way) costs roughly the same amount.

About 3% if I drive 0%* on the bike (although I've spent more like 25% this month replacing a load parts that were wearing out :()

Could cut the driving cost right down if I got something more economical though

Monthly unlimited bus ticket at £59. A ticket made up of "journeys" would cost about £54. As long as I use it to get into the city centre once a month (which I would do anyway) I come up saving money. Also nice not having to faff about managing how many "journeys" you have left.

Now if only NIR did multi day returns I could save money when going home on Friday and coming back up on Sunday!

doesn't change the percentage of your wage you spend on getting there though
can't really say 'I could be making x amount every hour I travel' otherwise you wouldn't be travelling :D
could make your hourly rate seem lower, if you were to work it out that way

I never said it did, just making the point that some people don't take that into account either when choosing a job.

It takes me 15 minutes to cycle to work but in the car I would have to add 20 minutes because I would have to park 1 mile from where I work and walk.
I obviously spend nothing on fuel but my 4 cycles have cost a total of £3,180 + lots of accessories over the last 2.5 years

£0.

Work pays for transport, normally taxis. Should really just pay me petrol money, would save me hassle and them a fortune.

probably about £500

I started an apprenteship to get myself out of a rut with no scope for future progression where I was, so took a risk.

Rent a house share during the week, then come back at weekends. Chester to Telford.

I realized that's what you were getting at after I posted the reply! :)

9% for me so this thread confirms I'm spending quite a bit on fuel. it's not a high paid job either

Too much (about 9%). Own fault really for moving further away, but house prices were cheaper, mortgage is cheaper than the rent I was paying, council tax and other bills have ended up cheaper so haven't really lost much. Still only a 35-40 minute drive, mainly through pleasant countryside which I am ok with.
