The fact 4k came after the Titans makes them even better value, it's made them more relevant to gaming 2 years after release due to healthy vram.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
Well in fairness, nVidia were the first to supply enough VRAM to cope with 4K and it didn't cost the earth.
That sentence is 100% Titan mate and what I based my initial response, NOT what comes after as I didn't quote anything else, it's all there to read, you are spinning who/what/judgemental on price paid, I simply stated HALF the price, I haven't cast judgement in who buys what any where.
No secret we don't see eye to eye much with myself being a bbfb and your good self being Nvidia all the way, but that didn't stop me backing you/others up in the past and telling others to shut it when they judged your Titan purchase choice, did it?
That makes no difference, considering a Titan in its prime cost 2x more than a 780, for far less than 2x the performance.
I am the 980s are place holders until the Titans turn up.
In the meantime I am having a bit of fun on the benches.
It is also useful to test the 980s myself @4K as the review sites print a load of garbage sometimes.
I built a green machine so I had to put some green cards in there.

No it isn't, as the 780 6GB was released long long before AMD released the 8GB 290X. You are just reading it completely wrong and twisting to your agenda. In fact, not once did I mention the Titan and only mentioned the 780 6GB, so you did well to mess that up
As for the rest, I don't have any beef with you, I just don't like misinformation or stupidity.
Well in fairness, nVidia were the first to supply enough VRAM to cope with 4K and it didn't cost the earth.
No it didn't 8Gb 290X's were available May this year, about a month before 6 Gb 780's, which only left Titan being the first with 6GB so....
Misinformation and stupidity-depends on who reads this nonsense on whom it's apportioned to.![]()
It was a 2 month difference, and really doesn't change anything regarding the price/performance/value aspect which was the focus of my argument.
The GTX 780 did not exist when the Titan launched and no one was aware that it was going to come after the Titan.
How can you compare a Titan on launch day to a non existent product.
As to value for money the Titans are still relevant and in demand for 4K where as the time for a GTX 780 has passed. I would say the Titan is the best value for money high end card in the last few years and will still be going strong after the 4gb 290s and 980s have been replaced by SKUs with more VRAM for 4K.
Now why am I using a 4gb card to write this........
Can we be clear 3GB can work - 4GB+ is preferred.
I dare say for some games even 2GB of vram could be enough depending on your settings?
4k is still a long way off for me, monitors need to be 120hz. I'm deffo not buying into early tech just for the sake of it, 1080p does me well.
+1
A cheaper +120hz 1440 than the Swift would be nice though.
You do realise that the 290X 8GB (limited to OcUK) was released in May of this year and the 6GB 780 was released in March of this year (could be bought from anywhere in the world)?
Only now have the other partners released an 8GB model.
6GB wasn't released in March, it was announced late March:

8Gb 290X availability to purchase preceded 780 6GB availability to purchase which was late June iirc.
