**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

I think that means maybe mines faulty in some way then if its hitting 77?
Its weird because you would think since the idle temperature is in the normal range it wouldn't get up to that temp...
Also was that on the highest quality setting in the options which is ultra high quality? or just the standard setting.

That was on ultra high, but my phone isn't rooted so when the temp gets that high, maybe the cpu downclocks. You've said in previous posts your cpu is running at full pelt so I'd expect yours to run hotter. What was your ave fps on ultra high? I bet yours is scoring slightly higher too..

Make two calls.

1: call and change your billing address to where you are at the moment

2:call and organise exchange

Yeah I asked them at the time and they said I couldn't do that.

I had a call back from a manager and he told me I could in fact swap the handset out in store and maybe the stores don't know the new policy yet. He left his name and direct dial and said to take it back to a store and call him while there if I have any issues which seems fair.

Problem is finding stock, and also if they wouldn't sell me one out of contract will they take one for a replacement?

However I've just got back and the phone was left on charge and seemed to be averaging mid 20s on charge, and after playing asphalt for 10 mins seems to only be hitting 49 max.

maybe is all ok?

I think my phone maybe fine... When I put the cpu settings back to default so it throttles correctly it didn't go higher than 69 degrees and when I took my phone into a colder room and let it cool a little then try it... it didn't go higher than 64 degrees so I guess its fine and like you said most likely due to the CPU being maxed through the whole benchmark.

I just installed a custom Kernal that's overclocked to 2.8 and the voltages have been lowered at 2.6 so it should run even cooler at 2.6 using that.

Quick question - Does anyone have this on Three UK if so when you switch the phone on does it have the Three splash screen and Three specific bloatware?

Was thinking of getting the Note 4 on contract and if it does flashing generic BTU software if possible.

Yeah it does.

As far as I can tell it's only the three app and another called three likes which are uninstallable.

Ive run that epic citadel benchmark and the phone is still only hitting 49 now. Seems like it may be throttling as its a bit choppy?

Yeah it will be throttling. It's very smooth on mine.
This new kernel is amazing too. Over clocked to 2.8 but no temp different since its undervolted at all frequency. It flys through loading web pages and apps at 2.8 but keeps it lower in games so it doesn't heat up too much.

Arghgh....

Ordered a UAG case direct from them. Was coming in £5 cheaper than anywhere else online. They said they have a warehouse for shipping based in the UK.

Got confirmation this morning they have shipped from the US. Going to take longer to reach here and almost certainly get stung with customs on top.

Yeah I asked them at the time and they said I couldn't do that.

That is why I think you will need to make two separate calls.

They won't let you change your billing address FOR this purpose. They should let you change your billing address as long as that is all you do on the call and they don't think you are doing for the reason you are.

Thanks Mate, think I might have to buy it and then flash the generic BTU.

Let me know if you find it, I can only see carrier based ones at the moment.

On that point, has anyone tried flashing the EE ROM? It wouldn't work on mine, I had to go back to O2, although Three worked too.

Also, EE's Cash On Tap, does that need to be on an EE ROM to work? Wouldn't install for me at the moment. I know EE customer service tell people it will only work on EE phones, which is either a lie or maybe there's something baked into their ROM's?

You want the plain BTU firmware for the SM-N910F?

Here's the latest BTU N910FXXU1ANJ4_N910FBTU1ANJ2_BTU.zip, though it's a bit old now (08 Oct 2014). You'll need to register for the dl.
