** Star Wars Episode VII - SPOILERS WITHIN **

Watched this at work on the big screen.

*starts trailer....*

Cool.

*Millennium Falcon appears*

"Wooooo!"

*trailer ends*

:D

I'm so easily pleased!

Not really, they were used under a guise of being good. Taking out a droid army while being controlled by the emperor so nobody could stand against them.

Well. They are the police / army. Safe to say after the emperor was killed they would have worked under the new leadership or broke away and became the rebels.

Have to say i think that sabre looked retarded, is there any real reason for 2 dinky laser blades that close to the grip? Just makes no sense looking at it.

The theory is that its an old school saber or one made in haste and the side bits are actually vents and explains the un-pure saber blade.

To be honest, my main thought was that, if the rumours are true and this is set 10 years after RotJ, why are they still using X-Wings and TIE fighters? Haven't things moved on? Look at all the changes in fighter tech in the prequels. Aether sprites to the Ep3 Jedi interceptors, ARC180s, V-Wings etc. And yet, with the Emperor dead it all halts.

Perhaps I'm overanalysing things. :)

I think as a teaser, it is alright, it shows more than most teasers.

As a trailer, 90seconds long, it's not very good...the only new thing is a round shaped bot, and a new sabre.

Also, has anyone notice there was not a shot of it in space? All the scenes was on a planet or 2.

You're just analysing it wrong, if it is set 10 years after the RotJ why would they have new tech?

The Tornado (which we still use) first flew on the 14th of August 1974 so that's 40 years! Albeit it never came into service until 1980.

The harrier entered service in the 60s and they haven't been gone that long. So yet again 40~ years.

These have went through MANY different variants and upgrades as I'd imagine the x-wing etc would've done too (in Star Wars reality). Also the rebellion was strapped for cash, that isn't going to stabalise itself overnight even with the downfall of the emperor. So they would have to put up with what they had, it's nearly always cheaper to upgrade something than it is to devolp something new. Plus they would've had a whole politcal system to sort out, aid relief, convincing systems to join the Republic which all costs money. So these would've took priority over defense upgrades.

So yeah having the same craft 10 years later isn't unbelievable at all, if anything the opposite.

Maybe I overanylised it?! :D

Edit - The Khan Trilogy also explains this abit, which obviously has nothing to do with the Star Wars story line anymore.

I got chills watching that trailer, the bit with the X-Wings flying over the water. Wow.

So glad JJ is behind this next instalment.

Disney: Do...not...****...this...up! (Like Lucas did the prequels ;) )

Please please please say this means a proper new x-wing/tie fighter game is on the way it's pretty much the only game that could convince me to shell out for a new PC!

40 years old. Grew up with SW. etc. etc.

Trailer looks chuffing amazing. Looks like a lot of the plot and concept art leaks have been confirmed. Lightsabre with flaming hilt? Bring it on! Since when did anything in the SW universe have to be practical?

Could have guessed who the boring, joyless OCUK critics would have been before the trailer even hit. Me, I'm going to be like an 8 year old boy all over again. Which might confuse my 4 year old son :o

Yes very true! We had are turn. This film is for another generation.

Unless you watch it with young eyes you will be disappointed.

The light sabre for example... We as adults might think that is naff, but kids will love it... That will be playground talk on Monday.

Yeah stupid, show horn another sabre in for the sake of it. They went thousands of years with just a single or double blade. In the prequels SLJ wanted a purple blade, fair enough. Then Disney have conjured up the Inquisitor, another sith with another retarded lightsabre and now this broadsword with a hilt that would do the wielder more damage :D

Every one of these films is going to **** on the lore of the first 3, I guess we better get used to it. The Rebels series is just awful, can't believe it got made awful. Actually kids Luke wasn't the last of the jedi and there's more sith than two.

Agree with all your points, especially about Rebels, what annoyed me most was when he said "having a laser sword doesn't make you a Jedi" a laser sword? Laser. Sword.
