OK. Well, in any case, aluminium won't rust either. The only bits that might be rusty would be the chain and the cables, maybe a few other bits, I forget what else is made of steel on a bike.

Wiggo has the track experience to take it imho. Track finesse means a lot in the hour, good lines can be worth hundreds of metres on their own.
Not to mention the fact it's a prime goal for wiggo and he'll be focusing training towards it.
So, things are looking up with Canyon.
Missing mudguard and bar bits and bobs have arrived, but still nothing on the FD support plate.
They've credited my account £100 as well, so now I'm browsing heavily. I need an 11sp chain tool and and a set of quick link pliers, so that leaves me with £70.....
At the moment I'm thinking about getting a 52t chainring so that I can run 52/36 at the front (16t being the max jump a Shimano FD can cover) so I get almost standard double at the top and compact at the bottom or a Uvex City V helmet for looking uber on the pursuit Brompton.

Just fitted my Giant mudguards, a bit of a faff as they look to have warped in the post and they're very flexible. Thankfully the guides/supports tighten well so fingers crossed I've got them somewhere near! Certainly no rubbing so time will tell... 'Instructions' they came with are useless! 3-4 little poor quality pictures that are not even close up on the area in question! 
They'll be a b**tch to adjust when out on the road as the main nuts to undo are 10mm locking ones and I've done them quite tight!
I've trodden on a crow before when out jogging a few years back, very crunchy!
Look forward to my letter when I get home... They've not responded to my 3 emails. I've asked how I got about cancelling the sub as I'm not bothered about the light now.
Assuming you're buying it S/H, I'd look to see what components it's had changed since new as that'll give you an idea of what riding and how much it's done. Pads changed will prob mean it's done near 1000 miles, tyres will mean closer to 2000 or more. Fork/wheels even more than that, accidents not withstanding!
Very much of it is on trust of what the seller tells you - it may have been sat unloved in someones garden shed (rust on gears & chain & cables). It may have been getting wet (rust on everything!) or it may have been very well looked after and done a bunch of miles (also look for wear on the BB from shoes/clothes rubbing/wear on saddle/bar tape)!
Bear in mind to change the chain and cables isn't expensive if you do it yourself, even changing a cassette isn't too bad! The derailers and shifters being straight/clear and shifting smoothly would be more important to me.
You need less time on your hands, have you thought about taking up knitting?

So I got on with my friends well last weekend and I'm off to view/pick up a Boardman Comp Pro this evening.
If anybody else could let me know if there is anything major I am overlooking in my 'inspection' or of any inherent issues with this particular brand/model I would be grateful.
- I plan to give it a good visual inspection, check the frame for cracks/twists/dents, signs of rust, any other anomalies etc.
- Check the groupset over for condition, wear and functionality (all gears etc).
- Check the wheels are true, for spoke slack/breaks and that the bearings are not shot
- Check the chain for excess wear/slack and condition
- Headset/forks for play/rattle within the frame and that they are symmetrical
- Inspect brake pads, cables, bite etc
- Check the bottom bracket for play
- Pedals aren't a concern as they will be replaced
I will of course ride it too but if there is a 'must do/check' I've forgotten please say.

They replied to my emails, although took a very long time. In the end, I cancelled my direct debit with my bank, and informed Immediate Media of my cancellation via email. They confirmed my cancellation about 4 days later, and then the very next day sent another email asking why my payment had been declined
I replied and offered to send the magazine back, I've not heard back yet though. To be honest, my order was with "Future Publishing", not these jokers.

Im actually thinking about getting some Tannus solid tyres for it as the review at on Who's at the Wheel (http://paolocoppo.drupalgardens.com/) by Paolo, who is the best wheel builder in London, is pretty favourable.
Of course, they come in pink.

That's quite an interesting read. I'd heard of the tyres but hadn't read any proper reviews. They sound like they're almost good enough for commuting use. One concern I had was about how long they last with regards to miles.

I read an article somewhere which said they last a good long time. I'll see whether I can dig it up.
It said that some of the bike messengers in London are moving over to them, which is a pretty ringing endorsement.

Have you seen how small they go, and how easy they are to fold up? That's the appeal.
