The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I was purchasing some very small items (skill books and such) the other day. So I took out a little ship with just a MWD and Modified Cloaking Device.

This was with my FW account and from my homebase in low-sec.

First couple of gates were clear, then next gate as I came out of jump I suddenly see 15-20 flashing in the overview and local. All from the CODE corporation.

So..... I prepared to hit the right buttons in sequence, align to safe spot, cloak then MWD in quick succession.

I get to my safe spot and see "That cloaky Velator!!!" in Local - LMAO.

I think someone took offense at me and on my next couple of jumps could see a flashy in overview trying to catch up. Next jump he catches up and is in a Proteus. Manages to hit me once just as I enter the next jump gate. I come out of the jump thinking all I have left is my Pod but some how I still have 1 bar of hull!!!!

:) damn that lucky cloaky Velator saved my ass :D

Stuff like that has made me love the prowler :D and having insta warps off stations.

<3 hull Domi.
hulltanking has become really popular, you dont even need to fit a point because people stay committed to the kill lol.
Seriously? When I used to play the old joke was about real men hull tanking! Is it genuinely a legitimate tactic now?

I put a month on my 'new' account a week or so ago and was amazed by some of the changes I've seen - Unlimited training queue, no more buying a clone being just two of the more obvious tweaks. Is Eve finally dumbing down?

Hah dunno Feek. Last time I hull tanked a domi was in something like 2008. Been largely AFK for the last 5 years or so. Tried going back earlier this year but just couldn't get myself organised enough. Might have more free time in 2015 though so will give it another shot if I don't get too hooked on Elite/Star Citizen.

No more clones is great. I was paying 40mil or so for an empty clone, which basically ruled out small ship roams. Now i can jump into an empty head and take out a thrasher without a care in the world.

The jump fatigue thing is a bit dull, i think they hit the carrier too hard personally. Even with JDC 5 you can't jump any real distance. Maybe a new skill somewhere down the line that lets you train up a bit more on your jump range would be good.

Not played for 18 months.

Keep considering coming back but everytime I think about how everything I own is scattered around Curse and Delve (and half a dozen other 0.0 npc regions) convinces me it isn't worth the effort.

That and finding a new Alliance.

shame they don't offer a service for returning players who have been away for 12 months where they can pay extra to relocate all their items :(

Yep, I've been a way for quite a while and not able to play online games and I've had my lad Black Frogging all my stuff for me this last week when he has the time to do it all. Contract it all to Red/Black Frog or Push etc depending on what your needs are and let someone else spend the time and take the risk.

I recall unlimited training queues being an april the first joke one year!

Do you play as King4aDay in game (the char in hydra) btw? ran into that character a couple of times around Lonetrek lowsec a few years back.

So, I've got some free time and thinking about getting into something again.

I've not played in over a year, and even then it was a for a few weeks. 2 accounts created in around 2004 i think.

Just downloading the trial now to see if I can be bothered to resub. How are things in game? newer/returning players find it hard against the vets?

The whole newbie vs vet thing in Eve is blown out of proportion. Once you've been playing 2-3 months you'll be able to fly certain ships to 90%+ of what a vet would be able to do based on statistics alone. By that point player ability is far more important in anything bar huge fleet fights.

ok so i've resubbed and things have changed in the last 2 years.

Ships I had set ups for no longer work, sometimes a turret point is available when it was, for other ships like my ferox its lost all its missile points :( pita!

What software are people using to help them? Planning training, markets, missions etc. Is there anything out there that shows all the ships and whether they can be flown or not in a nice table layout?

Also, what is the best way of finding agents in your area? I've a standing of 9.3 for Spacelane for instance so feel it may be time to strike out with other NPC corps.

evemon evehq are 2 i use regularly for planning fits etc.

As for seeing a table of ships, ingame look for the ISIS button in the neocom. Stands for Interbus ship identification system. Shows you a lovely flow chart of all the ships for each given faction and what you can/cant fly and all that good stuff.

EFT for ship planning, evemon for a skills.
In game agent finder should do what you need, think it is available in each station. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Also, missiles on a ferox. Why?!

Just got back into the game 2 weeks ago after nearly 2 years, Changed a lot new Pysical based rendering looks great.

Struggling to find a decent corp looking for a smaller sized group of motivated individuals wanting to do pvp.

Aside from say Rooks and Kings (Who are very strict on there recruitment) anyone have any recommendation for me?

:p

ok, anyone else have issues with the solar system map?

Usually everything works fine, both mouse buttons zooms, RMB drags map and LMB rotates around the point you are looking at. Every now and then I get an odd issue where RMB goes really slowly and I have to zoom right out to get it to work, LMB rotates from my point of view and not the object I am looking at.
