Will be interesting to hear about how the brothers are connected to the people in the supermarket incident and whether this was a coordinated attack.

I kind of feel like they weren't actually connected, but the supermarket guys were just opportunists seeing a chance to piggyback another attack. This is based on the brothers clearly being so inclined towards martyrdom, yet the supermarket attackers were seemingly bargaining for their safety when they threatened to kill hostages if the warehouse was targeted.

Speculation. Time will tell.

Is anyone surprised to learn that one of the Koachi brothers had 'close ties' to Finsbury Park mosque and Abu Hamza?

Nope, the normal Finsbury Park Muslims have been working closely with the police for many many years to eject multiple small groups of radical fanatics that have violently taken control of the mosque over the years!

Absolutely. Their objectives and the way the two groups acted just seems so different. I'm not so sold the the idea that the brothers wanted to go out in the martyrdom way. Why go to such lengths to get out of Paris, maybe start negotiations or allow civilians escape? Where as the guy to attacked the supermarket surely knew he wouldn't be coming out. I think he probably knew them and was a sympathiser and opportunistic.

BBC have been reporting that woman as wanted all afternoon, and still now even with the siege over, she's been wanted since the shooting of the French policewoman yesterday.

I'm not so sure about this second gunman? I think it'll turn out to be a red herring personally. Seems as if his girl friend was never even there.

I know it was suppression but I count 18-19 shots fired by the officer by the black car, and the last few nearly hit his comrades.

Yeah apparently. To me it seems the brothers had planned to attack Charlie Hebdo's office and then had an escape strategy whereas the attack on the supermarket is obviously more of suicide mission. Both groups objectives do seem quite different.

When I heard it was a printing place they were in I was wondering if it was connected to the magazine and maybe stage 2 of a plan but so far doesn't seem that way - probably a good thing as if they'd planned to that level they'd probably have had a lot more nasty things in store.

So you think a botched storming resulting in at least 4 DEAD and no doubt many many seriously injured and then to have a cornered terrorist escape is a great example of competent policing?

Of course it's an extremely difficult situation but it's not unfair to say it's been handled pretty badly considering the information and video evidence we have seen!!

So your talking out your arse? you have no facts to back up your claims a typical bigot.

You need to get that ****ing chip off your shoulder and recognise when someone is actually on your side. There are people like me who understand that this is a nuanced situation, and can’t be laid solely at the feet of Islam. But what is going to alienate people like me is when people like you trot out the no true Scotsman and refuse to acknowledge that Islam is, at least in part, a factor in this.

I think it’s fair to say that European Muslims are going to need all the friends they can get in the immediate future, so you might want to actually start thinking about this a little deeper instead of sticking your fingers in your ears and saying “la la la, nothing to do with Islam”.

Are you aware of the facts?

The dead are most likely from the initial hostage taking, that is what has been reported rather than deaths occurring when the storming took place.
While it may come to light that people died or were injured during the assault, thus far the only source for info that people died during the storming, and that a gunman escaped is you. You are the source of this information.
Have you anything to backup your extrapolations?

Looks like possibly a g36 variant with cmag or other extended mag and he seems to be going full auto for most of that though its really hard to tell from the videos I've seen - I've a feeling hes putting down a lot more than 18-19 shots.
