Sometimes you get a nice roll on some of the weapons though. I'm exclusively levelling Dead Orbit now to try and get the hidden shaders (us Hunters are all about style you see :D )

Yes.

They have a variety of weapons and shaders that cannot be had from Vanguard / Crucible RNG drops from levelling.

i.e. Dead Orbit is the only one with Revent or something like that, it gives characters a nice black shader.

They may have half decent weapons in the future but current and past offerings haven't been amazing to be honest, saying that levelling them up wont do any harm. If you only level one, make it the future war cult as their gear has intellect/discipline on it.

When the next expansion comes out and the level cap increases their gear will probably be the pick of the bunch

The current weapons they sell are "meh" but some of the rolls you can get are quite nice (chance of a weapon roll on a rank up package).

I recently aquired a Dead Orbit Venation III Hand Cannon from a blue engram (Cryptarse, what do you want?!) and it rolled with hip aim and explosive rounds. It will replace my Polite Denial 0/1 as my primary of choice when I am just messing about (or doing Roc strikes). It feels like ******* lovechild of Fatebringer (minus Arc burn) and The Last Word.
 
Damn, there goes my last ditch attempt to get some raid gear for my Titan :( Looks like I'll have to level him up the hard way.
 
Although, does that mean we can get gear from the Deathsinger now, before the reset? I think Evilmatt has the checkpoint..

I wonder if we can get 6 people together to test this out tonight..?

Edit: it's been confirmed that the Deathsinger is not giving rewards post-patch and pre-reset, but the first chest is giving rewards again. I'll be nipping down in a bit to grab it on all 3 characters.

Cool it works another load of shards, and to top it off finally got Husk of the pit after what seems like forever trying :p

Does it only drop exotic weapons? Main thing I'm missing now is an exotic warlock helm. Regretting sharding my skull of dire ahamkara ages ago :/
 
Pit is still solo-able if you have a bladedancer hunter with don't touch me gauntlets or can jump high enough to make the wall without lamp explosion.

Edit: solo'd pit with hunter and warlock. Can't quite get the timing down for killing the swordbearer and the bridge forming at quite the same time to get over before it deconstructs or the sword disappears but it seems like it'll be perfectly do-able with practice :)

I think they patched the first chest so it is only materials. Can also confirm its reset
 
Hmm...... I might be tempted to grind out Iron Banner levels if the hand cannon mentioned in the patch notes is any good

Helping an American friend with the raid tonight, he got Plan C and radiant energy from the Deathsinger stage. I think you can get loot from her but only if you hadn't previously opened the chest earlier in the week before the patch.

Also reading about, it seems getting anything at all from her is a complete chance, so you could get nothing at all! I guess we'll know more tomorrow after the reset.

Another thing I noticed is that she starts her song as soon as you cross past those Knights and into the main arena. So I don't think you can pinch a bit of extra time from not hitting them anymore.
