Shooting at French Satirical Magazine

Or alternatively, would you purposely repeatedly insult millions of people?

If I walked down the high street swearing and insulting people I would expect consequences. It may be my freedom iof speech to insult people, but I could also be charged with abuse.

This doesn't make any of the consequences right. I just think it is plain rude to continuously insult people, however ridicuous I find their opinions.

so when say a gay guy kisses his boyfriend in public to the disgust of some idiot and his mates who then beat the **** out of them both is it their fault for daring to have offended the idiots?

Menzies are distributing it, WHSmiths I think.

Only around 2,000 copies are being imported into the UK.

They are being distributed by newspaper and magazine wholesalers Smiths News and Menzies Distribution.

A spokesman at Menzies Distribution Ltd said: ‘I can confirm that Menzies Distribution will handle supplies of the upcoming Charlie Hebdo special edition.

'We don’t expect to face particular security issues, but we will take whatever precautions our security team believe are sensible to ensure the safety of our employees.’

Smiths News said: ‘We are due to get a very limited supply of the title but full details are yet to be confirmed.’

WH Smith, Britain’s biggest newsagent chain, said it did not normally stock Charlie Hebdo and would not sell this week’s special edition

Expected to be available on Friday. Apparently there will be an online edition.

why is this so hard for people to understand - why do people believe one group should get special treatment/immunity from satire/criticism because they'll be ultra offended and potentially act violently?

I doubt any of the critics would be fussed by people mocking political figures - but add in a 'god' and a sensitive potentially following and suddenly special status should be given?

To try and help you understand - it's their love for a person that is being trampled upon. The love we have for someone is the very core of a person. Telling them that the person they love was wrong in this or that, respectfully, is a lot easier to swallow than outright disrespect which attacks the very core of their being. Sure, they may still be angry, or argue. But it's a lot easier to swallow when done with respect.

For those 2 or 3 people who decided violence should be the response, there will have been millions who successfully fought against the anger inside them provoked by childish hate-filled grown-ups who should have known better. Nobody without hate mocks their brothers and sisters.

I hear that the magazine will continue publishing grotesque insulting images. I've also heard that the sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Food for thought?

they've been about the exact same amount of time (if not more) than us.

no excuse.

What about kids who learn to talk, read and write, later than others? What's their excuse?

And don't you think that for everything "they" have wrong, "they" might have things right that "we" don't?

There is no them and us. Since there are decent and bad people in every nation on earth. And the decent people of any nation have more in common with each other than with the bad people of their own nation. And vice versa.

their brains develop slightly slower but unless your declaring an entire race./region of the world is mentally handicapped with a hereditary condition for the last few thousand years i fail to see your equivalence?

non sequitur is random.

Agree with this totally. Not all Muslims will chop your head off if you talk to them about Mohammed, 99.9999% of them wont. I cant believe that people don't realise that this is just another government/media agenda to make people think they will.

In fact I've talked about and criticized Mohammed as well as Islam dozens upon dozens of times and bombarded them with ideas about how God doesn't exist, and I've never heard of any calls to blow me to hell.

It's nothing new but still shocking, this is the world we get when so many people want so many different things that create different ideologies which in turn causes segregation, human governement rulership fail its people the world over, the french government rulership has failed its people. Removing religion would not make a better world, also i think those individuals at hebdo magazine could probably find better jobs with more positives for the general populace instead of drawing silly cartoons, that's my criticism, i think the adults at CH magazine should grow up a bit.

What troubles me with your statement is the fact that Extremist nut jobs have such a diametrically opposed set of 'rules' by which they live and a desire to kill everyone not living by their own rules, that every single westerner indulging in all the things they hold as 'bad' are inviting terrorism..

What you are saying is, we shouldn't dare do anything too public that is against extremist ideals because if we do we may die?? Sounds exactly what terrorists want to me..

No.

Im simply asking whether a few laughs or pokes at a belief is worth dying over.

non sequitur is random.

But that's the point, we all think our way of life is the right way.

You ask for an example, well the best one I can think of is the Jamie bulger killers, was it right we have become so tolerant on human rights that they're allowed to go free ?

Have you seen new amateur video?

I don't get 1 thing, why haven't Police called more reinforcement to this event?
In 2-3 minutes there should be more patrols there, wouldn't they?
