Shooting at French Satirical Magazine

Who is stupid, and who is evil?

I sense you have a point, could you be more specific?

Quite a few more people reading this magazine now. Which means any more satirical cartoons featuring the prophet will now be seen by millions.

Did the terrorists not think about that? By attacking the publishers, they are just raising their profile.

Pretty simple really.

Religion in general seems to attract extremists.

The amount of people killed in the name of religion throughout history is truly shocking.

And what for? Is there any proof any god actually exists? It all seems like a big excuse to me.

I'll have nothing to do with religion myself.

That Charlie ebdo magazine is now selling millions. Nobody had ever heard of it before the terrorist attack. So tell me exactly what have they achieved? Stupid as well as evil.

Exactly, plus it's simply been published this week as usual, other than a vastly higher circulation and demand nothing has changed. :)

It's also a war we can never win

Define win?

If we don't change our way of life or succumb to threats of violence and just carry on the way we are surely that's winning?

Keep that up until they catch up to modern society and values (which will happen one day) and then we would have 'won'.

lol

I'm all for that rhyme and I wish everyone else was too. Fact of the matter is that there are some really sensitive / petty people out there. Who will take offence to anything no matter how big or small!

Well there are plenty of youtube videos to help with the increasing psychological problem of coping with "being offended" try Bill Hicks, Steve Hughes, Christopher Hitchens etc

It's also a war we can never win

Of course it is... a few centuries Christians were killing people for 'heresy'... a few decades ago monty python caused moral outrage with their film the life if Brian... these days those sorts of things are minor issues for most, attitudes change/progress. We're all just human, Islamic attitudes just need to evolve a bit more.

People need to go read the magazine, or at least reasearch it. It poked fun and all religion, politics and capitalism.

That magazine tries to do more for the minorities than most others. It was against discrimination and the like. It was fighting for the Muslims and the Jews and their place in Frances society. An equal society.

People have come across recent events, seen a cartoon, magazine, bloodshed and come to the conclusion all this magazine did was poke fun at the Muslims all day long...

That's not what I've said at all and it matters not that they did it to all religions sections of society. Everyone in the publishing world knows that if you print something taking the mick out of Islam you run the risk of stirring up the extreme elements who claim to be part of the religion. Hebdo did this repeatedly knowing the risks and in the end they pocked the hornets nest one time to many and got stung.

NO EXCUSE TO KILL

I actually specifically said it wasn't an excuse, can you not read!

You have no understanding of the history of french satirical comment dating back to the founding of the Republic. Hebdo poked fun at all institutions. Its just the extremist muslims that shot the place up. Dont go excusing their behaviour.

History in France matters not when you have a global audience, the publishers knew the risks they were taking and decided that they were making a big enough stand for free speech to justify it. For me they were just being antagonistic because they could and again I specifically said this doesn't justify killing them just serves as a reminder to people that exercising you write to freedom of speech will always carry risks if you say/do silly things.
