**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

Is there a way to turn off the auto Movie Highlights? I only see the option to turn off notifications when it has made one, but I presume it will continue to make them in the background each week/month/year.

All back to normal now mate :) To be fair I did use the "!email us" form as the repair wa staking so long I was getting annoyed and said if it didn't arrive this week then I wanted a direct replacement as an exercise of my consumer rights (!).

I got no reply to that of course but the next day the system emailed me saying the Z3 was on its way back to me :p

Software version is 23.0.1.A.5.77 - update centre says this is the latest version, the engineer note says they updated to the latest too. Roll on Lollipop

Sony compensated you handsomely with a brand new replacement. I hope it's running well Mate and you've got it set up as you want.

That's the software version that I'm also running and it's the latest, nice little improvements on the phone such as the increased volume regarding the notifications. Lollipop should be around the corner....not too long to wait hopefully.

Mostly its games, I hate losing the data for them, could use helium and not have to worry about it. I'm kind of over the whole custom rom/kernel business these days as I'm far to busy anyways.

Money isn't super tight but I rather have a nice amount of savings just incase the worst happens, and I did recently move jobs so I'm still in probation so best to be cautions, even if its going smashingly. Either way its 2 - 3 weeks away which is not too bad.

I see where you're coming from, rooting has so many advantages for sure, flashing ROMs etc takes forever and setting the phone up to how I like it literally takes 5-6 hours which I don't really have.

It's always best to be cautious Mate, especially with money, congratulations in getting a new job, I hope you settle in quickly and enjoy what you do.

With the MWC just around the corner maybe it's best to wait anyway and save the cash and splash it on one of the next gen phones for 2015...as it makes hang fire for a little bit.

No complaints from here here! Everything is back as it should be and as I did with the Note 3 vs Note 4, if the Z4 isn't a revolutionary upgrade to the Z3 then I'll happily keep the Z3 another year and see what the Galaxy S6 or Xperia Z5 have to offer I reckon.

Those that have rooted can now try CM12 Lollipop, seems everything works:

Those wanting to restore DRM functions see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672

I will not be rooting my Z3 purely because my banking apps will not work when rooted and there is no workaround for this at all that bypasses that security. It's the only reason I can no longer root really which is a shame but I need to be able to use Barclays apps!

Edit*
A colleague who has spent months proclaiming that Android is the most insecure platform and that his £3000 Macbook Pro could recover any data from one because of that if he just plugged it in now has a Z3...

One by one, they will fall :p

Excellent news! I'm eager to see what the Z4 brings, however the M9 and S6 are also tempting me.

Good find!

I like what Sony have done with the lollipop softkeys, modifying the home button and I prefer it to stock lollipop version.

I think I would genuinely miss the Z3, the same way I do miss the Note 3 but alas, change is inevitable.

A friend in work just got the Z3. It surprised me just how small it is. Makes my standard iPhone 6 look a touch dated too if I'm honest with her fat old bezels.

Must not change....I don't NEED to....Must not change

Join the wagon welshdragon, it's going to be a lengthy one if the Z4 is only a minor bump and Lollipop lives up to expectations :)

Does anyone else's Z3 get extremely hot when charging or using the phone?

Was wondering if it's the rapid heating and cooling is the source of faults or cracked glass?

I'm holding back to see what lollipop turns out like on it. Can see me hopefully picking up a Z3 at a good price once the 4 is out. I'm really disillusioned with iPhone's and windows phone isn't there yet.

Yes mine can do with prolonged and intensive use, but I don't find this to be any more excessive than previous phones. Haven't noticed when charging however.

Well I keep getting comments on how big it is (it looks like a brick etc). However when compared to the iphone6 it isn't that much bigger in my opinion.

I have been wondering if I'd of been better of getting the compact version lately. I'm finding that after I hold the phone for a prolonged time, my hand starts to hurt.
