Ahh, posted it - Also Trust should be below someone's post - Basically PM's for OcUK :)

I think the problem is that I don't use the email address I signed up with anymore, and can't remember my password or security question to log in and accept the email sent by OcUK asking me to confirm my change of email address. No biggie though.

Okay, I feel like giving this game another try. I haven't tried it in months, first played back in PB and am a KS backer so I should have a freagle.

What's a good way for me to start up in the game? I'm up for doing some trade runs mainly. Once I have a bit of cash I'll likely get myself a decent fighting ship and kit it out nicely. Am I right in thinking that you can now have more than one ship?

So I kind of need tips from the start, how do I find a decent trading run? Should I sell my eagle for the extra capital to put into trading better goods?

To be honest, its not worth trading with one of the starter ships as there just isn't enough cargo space. Start off by doing a few bulletin board missions to get your ship a few upgrades, then you can earn a bit more doing some lower level bounty hunting.

If you want to do some trading then you can save up the pennies for a cargo hauler of some sort. Then the creds start rolling in.

I went shooty-shooty + missions in the eagle then bought a hauler (temporarily) then an Adder.

I'd probably go straight to an adder, 22T of cargo -> Trading.
But then I quite like trading :D

I think I'm beginning to see the problem - are you getting mixed up between the cargo scanner and scoop?

The scoop is a default component of all ships (as far as I know) and it is not something that you can "swap" the slot for.

The cargo scanner is an extra piece of kit that you can choose to buy and fit, and then use to scan ships to see what they're carrying.

The scanner will not pick up stuff for you - you need to deploy the scoop (default button HOME, I think) and then use the radar that replaces the usual blue target compass to aim.

Does that help or make sense at all?
No, not the cargo scanner. I've an 8 tonne cargo capacity in a class 3 slot and a B Class 2 shield cell bank in what was a cargo slot. The home key is bound to the cargo scoop as it should be, but a press results in just a quiet beep and no open scoop. Tried swapping the FSD with the cargo slot and it made no difference. Might try putting a cargo slot in place of the shield cell bank see if that works, but it will affect my tactics when taking on the bigger ships in the game.

I am mystified.

Did you look to see if it's been disabled in Modules à la Captain Fizz?

Or are you running too many Priority 1 systems for your power plant?

To Wiiispa

Oh, you ARE targeting the floating cargo first, aren't you? :)

Thanks guys!

You can play it, but Joystick / Throttle is soooo much better.

Second that. It's a night and day difference, especially if you have enough buttons on your stick and throttle to cover everything you do often.

Good luck finding one though, since the release, they are hard to come by!

I bought a Thrustmaster HOTAS-X. It sounds like a sex toy, but it isn't :) It has enough buttons for the job and it works very well without spending lots of money.

I noticed that the price had increased a lot . On one site, I saw it go from £34 to £52 around release date and historical price tracking showed a low of £25 a bit earlier. Mine cost me £40.

Was playing with a friend last night who had just upgraded to a type 9, he entered the station which was green landed traded when he took off the station was red and they shot him before he could leave get through the letter box.
To my shame this prompted boughts of laughter from myself (he laughed at me when i got stuck between the the opening and a hauler and got "removed" by the station so i dont feel to guilty) which didnt really help the situation as he was somewhat miffed shall we say :D

Luckily for him he just about had enough credits to buy back his ship but not much left over to fill it so its going to be another long slog for him

The question is has anyone else had this random agression by a friendly station? he seemed pretty confident he landed on the right pad, didnt have his weps out or anything else that would annoy the station.

Can you even land and enter the starport if you land on the wrong pad?

Yes

A few weeks back I was in a type-9, flew into the station as normal, in the process of docking, when my hull just went to 0% and I got the "eject eject" thing..

No warning, no violation, no wanted, no collision, no silent-running, no trespassing, no physical reason why.

Raised a ticket with frontier and they fixed it and rolled me back,

This happened to me last night !!!!

Requested launch, all was well then laser and cannon fire....ship destroyed another 2mil creds of cargo lost. This game is frustrating on that front.

Been trying to get used to the Asp in combat, packs plenty of punch and great grouping for the weapons. The only issue is the lack of agility and speed. It's saving grace is the firepower is more than enough to take on the more agile Vipers, Sidewinders and Eagles and it is still fast enough to slowly escape from Anaconda/Pythons if things go south.
