**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

128GB Sandisk Class 10 respectively. It's fine for sll the phone capabilities :)

now you've had your z3 for a while how much do you miss the note 3's screen? some fella at work selling his z3 and whilst its nice I just cant quite see it as a real upgrade. I know you came from a note 3 so interested to hear your views :)

I maybe able to give an input in a few days as the wife has a note and I have just got the z3. Interface wise the Z3 feels much closer to Android (which I like) than the Note which seems to find a myriad of reasons to send notifications thereby totally swamping you. Much preferring the general feel of this.

But so far really impressed with the Sony UI - I thought people said it wasn't great and the machine fantastic.

Wife took a look at my phone and said doesn't look much different in size to n4 so she would miss the additional size.

The only gripe I have so far is using the sides of the phone for all the functions leaving only a small grip area for phone holders. Tried my oso mount and really not happy how it holds the phone in the small area so I am on the look out for a holder for the z3 - any recommendations?

Question for MRK or others who have had recent sony warranty experience - Im looking to purchase the z3 used but new condition, do Sony need to see the proof of purchase for any warranty cover / work to be carried out?
I know LG (experience with n5 / n4) and haven spoken with HTC in past are firm with requiring the proof of purchase, is it the same with Sony?
Thanks.

I don't recall Sony asking for proof, just the IMEI.

Thanks, good to know. I've just dropped them an email will see with what they reply, on there web states original proof of purchase so will see what they quote, no doubt it will be receipt required.
I think im just going to purchase it.

I got the magnetic charger suggested from ebay but finding that very poor. Any suggestions on what devices people get to charge the phone using the magnetic contacts, really don't like taking off the cover regularly

Just the IMEI. I've just sent mine off (after sending the GFs off just after Christmas) because my top speaker started being quieter than the bottom one in loudspeaker mode.

Cheap ones are ok for work desk etc but the only good one is the official one.

This has probably been asked and answered a million times, but if a phone has a barely there case and tempered glass protector would it still fit the dock?

Depends on the case and the Barely There works fine as it accounts for the magnetic contacts area :)

I havent tried the official one, but have two cheapo ebay ones. Not sure why they wouldnt be classed as 'good' tbh - phone fits perfectly, charges quickly. Perhaps folks are having trouble lining up the charge points, but as they are magnetic I find if you are in general vacinity they pull together and it starts charging. Just my experience anyways....

Cheers

I think it depends on the charger. I spent half an hour trying to align it, in the end I could either push the phone back and it would align it or take the plastic adapter out but then it wasn't solid. Gave up finally and ordered the official one

I had a cheap magnetic cable charger from the bay and that was naff, was a pain to make a good connection and it eventually just packed in.

Going to go with the official one.

I got two of the Magnector X-202 from Amazon and find them excellent, I can attach them to the phone without touching the cable the magnet is so good.

I saw a while back queries on battery life - I don't think for me it will last 2 days (unless in max stamina mode) but for my first day the phone was on 17 hours, had 4 hours screen time and still 30% left so not bad at all. I listen to podcasts in the car (about 1.5 hrs of this) where the screen will be off but the phone is streaming to a bluetooth device.

Which brings me back to my query a couple of posts up :)

Anyone have a z3 use a car holder and if so what do you use and are you happy with it. My default holder (and most car holders) hold the phone at the mid of the phone which is no good for the z3 as its power button is in the middle and it has quite a lot of various items along its sides.

Yeah battery life will vary between users. Those with very few social accounts and apps synchronising will see more battery life as will those in areas with 4G or 3G reception in the -80dBm range. The rest of us will see a full day usually based on say 5 hours screen on time or regular GPS use (step tracking apps, google location reporting etc etc).

Too many variables in modern phones to say x phone gets better battery life than y phone.

Honestly Android just needs better standby time. Theres a huge thread over XDA where they have gotten it down to 0.1% drain an hour with everything on by stop/grouping a lot of tasks together.

Not sure i'm to bothered about the standby time, if I used this as a casual user this would make easily 2 days and on stamina mode with wifi/mobile disabled probably more. But if I use it then you see it draining the battery - not as fast as other phones but still a large impact
