The HTC One Hima (M9) Thread

Is the fact that it looks like an iPhone because it's a rectangle slab?

Please move on.

Someones touchy...

No, it's because it has the same rounded edges and "infinity" screen. More realistically it's a multitude of things and the orientation of the image (so you can't see the back).

Orcvader's image is very similar but doesn't have that iPhone look, but has very similar features.

You know samsung don't own the concept of an oval button in the same way apple don't own the concept of a glass rectangle?

No but as it isn't an official image and if AlecR is correct..

Yeah but my point is that it literally is the Note 3 home button.

It's probably a guy that has taken bits from other photos and created an image.

The reality is it doesn't look remotely like the M7 or M8 in that image, instead it looks a lot like this...

I think Orcvader's image looks far more like the evolution of the M7 and M8 and probably far more likely to be closer to the truth.

I really don't understand where your coming from or we have our wires crossed.

My pic looks nigh on the same as orcvaders. I'm more interested in the design rather that the orientation of the image.

The difference (to my eyes) is the way the screen meets the metal body. In Orcvaders the style is the traditional M* design with a flat glass screen being protected at the edge by the metal body. With the one you posted the screen appears to curve at the edges and the body curves inwards to meet it, exactly like the iPhone 6 design. It's why to my eyes one looks exceedingly like the iPhone 6 and the other looks like a great evolution of the One design. :)

With the orientation of the image you can't see the back, which would help diferentiate it from the iPhone design.

Both shots appear to be renders, and renders always look very smooth and plasticky. The difference between the materials used in the iP6 and M9 will make them appear more different in the flesh.

exactly like the iPhone 6 design.

Or the Moto X that was released before that, or the Nexus 4 that also had metal glass into a haux metal bezel, or countless others. I mean we have had phones for so long, nothing is actual new, everyone copies each other, theirs not a huge amount anyone can do right now, there is a style that works, and that will be the standard till it changes.

amp you're not alone... first thing I thought when I saw it was iPhone 6 too (mostly because of the "ducts" near the top and bottom). nice render but unlikely to be the real thing

There's a difference between design cues and wholesale copying. IMO the person that created that render used the iPhone 6 as something to copy. It's not official and the phone probably won't look like that so it doesn't really matter anyway.

EDIT: And looking at both the Nexus 4 and Moto X, neither of them look even remotely the same as the bits i'm picking up on the render kona786 posed.

Agreed, my point is a lot of those elements can be found in different devices, and that at this point is hard to do something complete different. The last image does look more closer to the M8 thou.

how likely are we to see the M9 in Mar/Apr

i need a new phone (stuck with a Samsung galaxy S2) and nearly bought an M8
but i could hold on a little longer maybe

or is the M8 worth getting just

The M8 was released on the same they it was announced, but no idea if HTC plans to do that again.

I would say wait for it, just for the sake of a better camera experience.
