ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

Surely this would make Jordan more inclined to attack IS now?
Seeing one of your (very well connected) pilots publicly burnt to death is hardly likely to endear IS to the Jordanians. Maybe IS think beheading doesn't have the shock value it once had.

About time the gloves came off IMO.

Muslims killing Muslims = Allah's will. It's only when the kuffir kill Muslims that they're inclined to fight back.

Publicly the Jordanians are not in a good mood:

A spokesman for the Jordanian armed forces, Mamdouh al-Ameri, said Lt Kasasbeh had "fallen as a martyr".

"While the military forces mourn the martyr, they emphasise his blood will not be shed in vain. Our punishment and revenge will be as huge as the loss of the Jordanians."

Let's hope so. I would love to think those ******** have finally upset the wrong people.

What i don't understand why Have the U.N not stepped in? Why have American & co who invaded Iraq not cleaned up this mess? They aided to the rise of ISIL

Allah's will? yeah right you clearly don't much about Islam

Because it would mean operating in Syria which is a no go as far as Russia is concerned so no UNSC resolution allowing it would pass.

Well they could at least sort iraq out its seen enough blood shed, as for Syria i'm sure Assad would welcome U.N crushing ISIL.

I would be amazed if some members of ISIS were not at one time or another trained by the west.

some of them are from the west... Londoners etc.. maybe some are ex military from some arab military that has been trained by the west - though that is farily irrelevant

not sure why you think the west would have been training ISIS themselves though, they only came into existence following a western invasion of Iraq

would be good if they sent in ground troops, someone ought to nd obvs it is better if Arab nations do so than the 'infidels'

Do you want British soldiers back in Iraq? The majority of the UK public don't and it seems the Iraqi government doesn't either. Should we have another incredibly unpopular invasion that will be met with yet another insurgency as ISIS wouldn't be capable of facing a modern military in open combat?

Tbh the Jordanian military would get their asses kicked by Islamic State. Tens of thousands of people are gathering in the Jordian pilot's home town for a protest, unfortunately it's not clear yet what they're protesting for - I'm afraid I rather suspect it'll be for Jordan to withdraw from the anti-Islamic State coalition.

The Jordanian military would not get their asses kicked according to this.

They are equipped with british and American equipment of current standard and train yearly with british and American troops.

I do think you might well be wrong....

TBH , what would shake the arab world is capture of a Saudi `prince` and they execute him....

Care to name one of these fallacies?
You could throw a dart at this image and you'd have a pretty good chance of hitting one you've used. To list but a few:

  • false cause
  • loaded question
  • bandwagon
  • composition/division
  • anecdotal
  • the texas sharpshooter
  • appeal to emotion (this one included in your post that is trying to show you aren't using fallacies! Delicious irony!)
  • tu quoque
  • slippery slope
  • black-or-white
  • burden of proof

I doubt the one million soldiers who would probably have lost their own lives had Allied forces invaded mainland Japan would see it that way.
See "emotional appeal".

Give me one reason why it can't happen? It's just been on the news that the father of the pilot has been petitioning the King to stop bombing Islamic State.

I bet the Iraqi government were sat in front of a sheet of impressive statistics about their armed forces too...

Jordanian forces with their better training won't run away like they did.

ISIS are now having regular and serious set-backs on a daily basis.
they are not advancing anywhere only retreating or going underground.

Because of the air strikes they cannot assemble more than 2 or 3 vehicles in one place. You can't take vast areas of territory spread over thousands of miles in one and twos.

They aren't close to defeat but they're certainly on the back foot.

Congrats - you can use Google.

See "emotional appeal".

Not really - what emotion do you think I'm appealing to? the best estimates we have are that one million Allied troops would have died in a mainland invasion of Japan compared with the approximately 200,000 people who died in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 0.2 < 1.0 therefore 0.2 is better - no emotions, just cold hard logic.

See "burden of proof".

Burden of proof doesn't really work for predictions, since by its very nature a prediction cannot be tested.
