Dying Light - PC next gen zombie open world game?

Hi there, does anyone know of a decent tactic to beating
the super quick Zombies that ambush you periodically
? It normally happens when you trigger an event or open van doors (when there's a few of them bunched together). They're a pain in the ass, and running away doesn't seem to work.

I normally try to get high up to kick them off the building roof but, when there's 3 and 4 of them it's extremely difficult!

Cheers

To start with they are pretty tough, i would suggest you go up a building and kick them off, this always worked for me to start with. As you progress through the game your zombie killing melee weapon will become powerful enough to make them trivial. So don't despair, its only a short term problem.

Had a small session with Shoza tonight. It was my first proper go at coop. I must say i really enjoyed that, completely opens up the game a little bit. Was good fun messing about exploring and chopping heads off. Will have to do it again matey.

Good laugh indeed and we didn't even try any of the coop missions or challenges!

I might be able to have another go tonight possibly. My mate is desperate to play DayZ but I've got the Dying Light bug now hehe. See if you can get your headset to work somehow,....

Finally finished the story mode over the weekend. Phenomenal game for sure.

I've only hit a couple of issues with my computer completely crashing and burning after a few hours playing it, but I'm pretty sure that has something to do with my intel stock cooler more than anything else.

Can't wait to do all the side missions!

When the main story is finished can you still carry on and finish off the side quests?

Get up high and kick them off even just on top of a van or bus helps, otherwise look for choke points and use them like the cables that run between buildings as at least then only two can come at once and it's rare for both to attack at the same time. Also remember that as you're skills develop you can use drop kicks to boot them off buildings, into spike and use stun moves which allow you more time to finish them off.

Early on I used choke points, roofs and kept in mind that anytime I made noise such as a roof collapsing or explosions I could expect 1 and sometimes two. It's rare to just randomly bump into them.

Recently now I've leveled up a bit I've noticed them more often and in greater numbers, they really love gun fire as I had around a dozen at me at the weekend but fortunately had a petrol station forecourt roof to use as a choke point (cables between the roofs).

Lastly traps work great with them, activate the trap and the "runners" will head to it and get zapped.

Just noticed in the notes it said this:

Dying Light - Updated SLI profile (previously released via GeForce Experience)

Does this mean it had to be enabled somehow in Gefore Experience? I've never used the game optimisation thingy in Experience. I thought if I had the latest driver it included the SLI profile but it seems not.

I'll have to update to this new driver later and see if it makes a difference, I wonder if it will cure the few texture flickering bugs caused by SLI or just make the SLI performance better.

OK so installation of the new driver has resolved my flicker problems in 980 Quad SLI in 4k and gives me around 45-50% across all the GPUs and double my frame rate from 25fps to mid-40's at stock. I will do some more testing but I think its going to need another game patch to fully resolve the problems.

@LateX'Dog & Halfmad, thanks for the answers and advice. That is what I've been doing and I must have run into them a few times now. I've been lucky on a few occasions by managing to manipulate my surroundings so they only come at me one at a time and then kicking them. Tough though when they catch you in the open and you can't get high quickly...:(

Sweeeeeeet, looking forward to trying this later!

Stand ontop of something really thin like a fence, they'll climb up and end up vaulting over, stick the boot in when they vault and eventually you'll grind them down, takes 6000 hours but it works

Yep around this evening and happy to run through some missions again - you seem to be relatively close to sector 0 anyway!

Ive been looking at a fair number of comparision videos of this game PC (max settings) vs Xbox 1 and Ps4.

Surprisingly and maybe i need my eyes checked but it looked a tad better on ps4 (xbox1 looked worse of all) than on pc. Is it due to it being coded on consoles first and then ported to pc i guess so its not optimized fully? Or do i just need new glasses as it is much better looking on pc? :D

Is anyone playing this with a PCS+ 290 card? Just wondered what sort of settings you are able to run it at as im thinking about getting the same graphics card.

The easiest way is to get the skill that instantly kills enemies knocked down. This skill also works on runners if you're on top of a vehicle, roof etc, 1 hit kill as soon as they climb up to where you are.
