Just wanted to stick my oar in and say I picked a Linx8 from Sainsbury's this week. Actually went in for a well priced 10 but they were out of stock so I paid more than I'd like for an 8.
It's intended as an iPad replacement for my mother, because supporting her remotely hasn't proved as simple as I hoped. Remote control of this, via something like Teamviewer, is the intention, but so far that's proving to require a little more intervention from my easily confused mother than I anticipated (ideally I'd be able to wake it up remotely without any intervention). I'm sure I'll get that sorted eventually, but in the mean time it's been a much more pleasant experience than I anticipated at this price point.
Battery life could be better, and Win8 is always a great advert for proper laptops, but it's a useful size and slick in use... as long as you avoid Chrome as a browser. Shame, but nothing's perfect.
Given that the latest OS update appears to have turned my Nexus7 into Nexus7secondstodoanything I may be looking out for another one at some point. The ecosystem may be poor, but I've never been impressed by the brave new appy world... so much junk, so little point. And there is, undoubtedly, something rather satisfying about running full Windows applications on such a small device... whether that makes sense or not.
