The HTC One Hima (M9) Thread

Just read the pre-orders go live on the 9th of March ahead of a release on 31st of March...so it will be interesting to see what price we are looking at.

Hopefully HTC are smart about this and aim for £499 although the early prices seen of 749EUR tends to make me think otherwise.

I'm not going to rush in and pre-order this time (he says telling himself not to rush in like I usually do)

I'm a bit jittery about the build quality of the first batch given previous blunders by htc. I had to return my M8 due to the screen being raised in opposite corners, you wouldn't mind if it was a cheap phone, but come htc you are supposed to be selling this as a premium product.

It's pretty much typical for a 20mp phone camera sensor. While it's nothing extraodinary, I don't really see any other companies with a similar megapixel count that are much different.

No OIS is a rather large omission from a premium device being released in 2015. The low light performance is hardly encouraging either from whats been said so far.
Display wise I think they made the right choice to stick with 1080p - anything higher is pointless on a phone with a screen under 6".. just a shame its not amoled :D

I'm the same mate...I said I'll stick with Windows Phone after selling my Z3 Compact and then as soon as the new handsets are announced I'm already thinking about what to pick up :p

If it's close to £500 I'll probably go for it...again depends on the Samsung price though as they've put together a very tempting proposition.

Is it usually the case when I new model comes out people will sell of stock of the previous model cheaper? I'm wanting to pick up an m8 but they are still £400 at the moment!

Prices of the M8 may drop when the M9 is actually for sale... Orders for the M9 are not being taken yet

I honestly have no idea why anyone with an m8 would buy an m9. A slightly better SOC is all it has over the m8. And do you really need the extra processing power on a phone? If prices drop to around £250 on the m8 I could be tempted to trade in my s4.

Regarding HTC owners, it's not aimed at anyone with an M8. It's there for people whose M7 contract is up and attracting those who've seen the M8 in the flesh.

Seeing as mobile phone owners tend to be serial upgraders and happily change their phone about 5 times a year, doesn't this seem bad business sense?

If I had an m7 I'd still want the m8 tho and save cash
But I suppose have to remember that Joe average will probably just want latest model

I swung from 1 time per year upgrade (iPhone 1 era)
To end of contact (HTC desire era Samsung Galaxy)
To I'll keep what I have until something actually new comes out (current)

I wonder if HTC will slaughter the M8 with sense 7 making the new M9 seem fast. Do HTC play that one?

Can't see them doing it, have the M7 and the change from Sense 5/5.5 to 6 didn't cause any negative issues. In fact the latest Lollipop update made the phone feel snappier instead.

I had such high hopes this phone may tempt me into upgrading my s4 :(

HTC are going to find out the hard way that re releasing last years phone will not do their sales figures any good.

This is almost as big a disappointment as the s5 was last year.
