I'm not sure i would bunch canyon in with planet x and the like. Planet x is good value at a certain price point but it is Chinese carbon, wheras bigger, non "shop" brands like Cannondale, Canyon, Scott, Merida etc. (possibly others people have mentioned that i'm not familiar with) tend to do a lot more testing on types of carbon, types of weave, mixes of fibre and resin and shaping of the frame. Not something you can really fuss about in an entry level carbon bike, but around £2000 i would start to expect it.

Just test ride as many as you can, make your own mind up :p

I wouldn't have mentioned Planet X if Ribble hadn't been mentioned. Similar products, different side of the Pennines.

Yeah, definitely. At that price the only real differences in groupsets are weight, arguably at the cost of durability. Wheels and frame would be what i'd concentrate on.

319w, was a fairly calm evening which may have helped. But Im sure on a warm day with some aero clothing I could probably take at least 60 seconds off that.

Damn, it's on!:D

EDIT: Just noticed you did it on the S3. On the P3 you'd destroy me!

Under an hour :0

Then again my ~20 mile commute takes me 1:25 and that's 1100ft of elevation not flat! I'm slow, but that's some motivation for me. Hardly cycled in a long time and did 3 days commute last week, 115 miles in total.

Was hoping to save a lot on fuel but need to replace my Castelli shorts and top they're ready for the bin. What's hot to wear these days?

Second time doing this route today, pushed myself a bit but had head and cross winds which were a pain high up! Plus I did Pen-Y-Ghent yesterday for the first time so my legs wernt completely rested today as that tested me a bit.

Today's route: http://app.strava.com/activities/272928793

Fastest out of the work lads on a 2 mile section and some are keen cyclists! Still not faster than the guys at the local bike store but catching up! Really enjoying my riding at the moment but it's all in preparation for a 3 day 280 mile trip from Scotland to Bingley via the Lakes at the end of Aug!

Need to raise my seat slightly I think too, could do with been measured up properly I think and doing a proper course on bike maintenance.

Roll on the rest of this week. Doing an old nemesis on semi fresh legs tomorrow morning and hope to get a PR!

Does the 510 give you a live speed without purchasing the speed sensor? Like Sat navs do..

yeah.. gps based one tho :) so in say, london, between tall building and so on the speed will jump around a bit or never pick up - say I'm going 25+ it'll show 8-9mph and then randomly jump to 25+

that's why I got a speed sensor for the sake of argument really..

I should be okay around here I think. It's rare I'm around tall buildings as I tend to avoid cities and keep it ruralish..

I could always get one later if I need to.

Thanks for the reply buddy!

Legs still feeling pretty rough from the weekend but I'm hoping to fit in an hour sweet spot session before going out tonight. I've really let things slip training-wise and I'm on holiday at the start of April so there's a danger of things going backwards :/
