What is the number of deaths in road accidents against the number of road journey's made every day compared to the number of deaths in aeroplanes against the number of flights?

I would guess that the number of road deaths as a percentage of road trips is a lot lower than the air equivalent.

Bear in mind these figures are based off publicly available data (via Planefinder/Flightradar24) and may not be entirely accurate. On a darker thought/note, one would hope the impact speed was as high as it appears; I hope it was quick for them.

I live in Düsseldorf, fingers crossed so far this hasn't affected anyone I know.

Decent airline Germanwings, use em all the time. God knows what caused it to just fall out of the sky like that :/

Apparently this plane was 24 Years old. Could have something to do with it?

Plane is built in 1990, so it's 24 years old and has been put through a life extension program by Lufthansa.

I was on that, and people were screaming. I think i screamed too. Docile and quiet? Not.

It definitely wasn't docile and quiet on the plane I was on when we hit severe weather and people were convinced (with good reason) they were going to die.

It's a bit like saying the Ford Focus is a 'doomed car' because more people crash them than Mercedes B Class...

Depends on the outcome of the investigation

If more planes were crashing because of a malfunction somewhere, then this would be directed at the manufacturer itself.

I much case like a car manufacturer had its finger pointed at it and possibly ruin its reputation for a partcicular line if it was found that XX number of accidents were caused by possible new found issue

If its pilot or human error then fair enough, there are too many variables

However its true if you look at the number of flights in the air on flightradar, and compare that to the number of crashes. You can see they are in fact very low.
