And you think that's worse than actually assaulting somebody?

It depends on the effects on the individual...a bit of a daft punch up in a pub with my mate isn't a big deal to me, however if someone phoned my gran with all the sordid details of my sisters sex life then that would have a huge impact on her.

So it's not quite as black and white.

Men fight. It happens. Disagreements/ arguments. Whatever.

To ring up a someone, for literally no reason at all, who has nothing to do with anything, and describe to him the sexual antics of his granddaughter, live on air, is imo worse.

They haven't even done that. They simply are not entering into negotiations for a new contract when the ones he currently has which expire Apr and Nov respectively expire.

JC hasn't actually been 'sacked' or had his contract terminated.

You see this is what annoys me with this whole debacle, he hasn't been sacked, but everywhere I look/here on on the radio is "Clarkson has been sacked"

NO HE HASN'T!!!

I've already stated that what he did was pretty outrageous and made me think less of him as a person, but how people can make out this incident is less despicable or even in the same league is utterly laughable.
I guess it just demonstrates the logic and mindset of some JC fans!

Russell as disgusting as what it was didn't break any laws, hell it wasn't even actionable in a civil court for slander due to the fact what he was claiming/saying was actually true, irrespective of how crude and unkind it was!!

Indeed.

People seem to forget that blokes do get into punch ups on occasion. At least proper blokes do...;)

Issue is, phoning someone up is what, harassment? At best?

Come on. Having a slight dust up during an argument is no where near as bad as ringing up a completely random person on air, and telling them (and who ever is listening) what a filthy minx their granddaughter is...

One is a a small fight between two blokes who were clearly in disagreement with one another nad having a bit of a fall out.

The other is someone who was completely unaware getting a phone call, and having two people tell him what sexual antics his granddaughter gets up to whilst loads of people are listening...

Maybe I am looking at this wrong. But I know what one I would rather be on the recieving end of...

So what...it's the effect it has on someone that determines its severity in this context.

Yes, but that would depend on the end user filing a large enough complaint to warrant Police action. Severity is a null point for this subject matter.

Why is it not 'as bad'? Define what is bad and what is deemed okay to one person/entire audiences ;)

You could have argued that the bust up was not during working hours, so why was the employing company even involved.

We are not talking about police action however, but the BBC and its ethics committee and the impact on the individual, not whether they can be arrested or what the CPS might think. So whatever argument you are having isn't actually taking place right now.
