*** The Official Bloodborne Thread ***

After hour an a half already decided I'm rubbish at this... No idea what I'm doing. I tried to lure them towards me in smaller groups but I dunno. I press cricle do dodge and I just jump into a enemies pitch fork or torch. It only takes a few hits and your dead.

I try to press triangle to reheal but the delay is too much and if you're in a fight. He won't reheal until your out of harms away...

So, to be honest I've not enjoyed that hour and half gaming at all. And that's the first ps4 game I've got I've not enjoyed within the first few hours..

I will have to read a guide, I'm clearly way to bad at the game and hence the lack of enjoyment I've just had with this one.... Hopefully a guide will provide tips as yeah I suck at this game.

The dodging you have to time it as it's about to hit you, you almost have to predict the attack coming in order to make the dodge in time. Try and pile on the aggression, if they hit you, you can get the health back by hitting them while your HP bar is depleting, it's one of the things I enjoy with them removing blocking.

If you're having trouble with packs, try throwing pebbles at individuals and luring them out to deal with them one by one. One session it'll all just click and you'll be enjoying it!

Luring them in small groups works well and using your gun to stagger them is useful if you get in a pickle. I can get through the groups till I hit those damn wolves then they maul me and like you say, you just die without a chance to heal.

The wolves can't attack (assuming you mean the big ones) whilst you're attacking them, just leave enough for one dodge back and you can recover enough before they start swiping again, can pretty much face them head on

They look more intimidating than they actually are, weak attack them until you have just enough stamina to dodge back once, repeat.

I'm sadly reading a wiki guide online now, feels like I'm cheating .... But I'm hoping it pick up tips. Pebbles have been mentioned and can be purchased.

I'll keep reading , but wow hard game guys. Its no run and gun cod or uncharted ... This is serious gaming everyone. Lol

Yeah this game is very hard. I finally just got down the third boss. Found him very difficult. It can be very annoying and frustrating at times but feels so good once you do it.
I'm personally loving this game and can see im going to spend a lot of hours trying to do this lol. With bosses its pretty much expected that you will die a few times at least until you find a good strat to kill them. They all have certain weaknesses you just have to find them.

Erm lol 40 mins in and I've died 10 times already. I've seen more of the loading screen then I have anything else. I'm waiting for it to load yet again after I've died whilst typing this...

Erm, what the heck am I meant to do lol, is there a map? Do I kill everything or stealth? I tried killing but when I kill one hench type of guy. It alerts a swam of um. Instant death .

Hmm ...

target enemies and throw pebbles to take one on at a time, makes it a bit easier still tough as nails for what essentially is a tutorial!

I have been using the latern you get as one of the first ones as a base of operations which is working ok. Anyone struggling at the start, when you have a few thousand points, go an get some better clothing from the graveyard bit. Seems to make you a fair bit tougher.

First level discussion.

Just beat the first boss (well, the cleric beast since you can face the other one too). To be honest I didn't find this one that great. Feels a bit too cramped and I found it difficult to read its attack pattern because of the camera. Still very much enjoying the game though, its much harder than the souls game at the moment!

Its very different and i understand your frustration as i had the same with dark souls 1 originally

In this they are trying to incourage agressive play! For example when you get hit, notice your health bar has an orange section. What that means is it you attack him back quick enough you will recover some of the health lost

Fighting the enemies in packs is a bitch at the start so use pebbles if you can or just bait them out.

The gun is really effective but has to be timed well! You have to shoot them when they are midway through an attack and you will hear a sound indicating that they are stunned. When this happens you have a 1 second window to get upto them and press r1 for a special attack usually 1 hit kill on general enemies!

Return to hunters dream often as you can upgrade weapons etc.

There is no shame at reading guides for anything made by these guys. It's deliberately vague and difficult to pander to the hardcore crowd these games appeal to. I remember picking up the original Dark Souls at launch and having to start again over and over because I'd gimped stats etc.

I played about an hour last night before forcing myself to go to bed, and I really enjoyed what I played. Despite everything being new it had a really familiar feel about it, which was nice. I love the gothic theming of the environment, it made exploring a real joy. Really looking forward to putting a lot of time into this over the weekend.

The world is miles ahead or souls 2, gorgeous

What are you guys spending your levels on? It feels like the first run through or dark souls where i just put points across the board as i dont know whats coming :D

A page or so back was mention of another patch in the works to address load times. Tbh for me i was concerned but its actually been ok, its not that bad

A good comparison for load times IMO is to compare it with a game such as Trials Fusion. In that game, you mess up a lot and you respawn instantly. How many times after a respawn do you simply repeat the exact same mistake - sometimes even 5+ times in a row because you haven't re-considered what you were doing.

Now Bloodborne has way more depth to it so taking a little bit of time to sit back in your chair, consider your new tactic and before you've even processed those thoughts the game is dropping you back in.

That's how I play the Souls games anyway - and maybe a reason why I mastered them after some time so for me I won't even notice at all.
If it loaded in 20 seconds, I'd still be standing there for a bit anyway deciding what to do.
