First impressions

Hi all,

Just thought I would post my first impressions of my Gigabyte card.

Think I can say straight off the bat that this card is brilliant, except for the price though - think it should have been nearer £750. That said it is no doubt a quality product.

imho I think these cards are definitely a candidate for watercooling if you like your silence, and also to get the best clocks. I have done some benching already, and a little clocking to test the general abilities etc. Must say it is impressive - for example, here is a fs run I did this morning:-

Noise of the fan was acceptable at 55%, but ymmv, but what a result!!!
Just wish I could get hold of a block and block her up. Sometime later may consider changing the bios, but only once under water.

For now though a stonking card I reckon - even the Hynix ram seems good so far.

your thoughts, comments as always are welcome. Will post the bench score in the fs thread also.

Dying Light is a game at 1440p with textures on High (and you can tell the difference with medium, they looked very compressed) that struggled on the 980's frame buffer.

Nice res BTW, literally just took delivery of my wide aspect DELL

I can't wait! Plus the Mrs is swimming so I can worm the huge box in without being water boarded for an invoice

It runs pretty good on 980s but the high texture setting pushes the VRAM over, like a few games these days. There is quite a notable difference on medium as well. They look really compressed. That said I had no trouble completing the game like it. You don't really stand still lol.
