Does the death mechanic essentially mean you have to complete the whole level without dying?

Also when you get to the first boss what happens if you die? Surely you don't go all the way back to the start?

You go back to wherever your last lantern was. This is why it's so important to explore and open up shortcuts, particularly in the level leading up to the 5th or 6th boss (depending which way you do them).

You may be frustrated by this mechanic but honestly it teaches you how to really play the game. This isn't a run at the boss until it dies kind of game, it takes thought and learning. Having to redo areas really makes you take each death seriously and work on how to avoid it the next time.

Thankfully, some of the harder bosses have very short walks to get from the lantern to the boss.

Wow this game really is tough !! People weren't joking ,been on the first level for 2 hours now haha keep looking for another lantern as a checkpoint then getting ambushed :(

Edit: also how do you use fire bottles without having to go into inventory ?

you press options... then go down to quick items... add your molotovs there. Then while in game press down on the Dpad to switch between the items you put there and press square to use them.

Also if you die at the boss you usually don't have to go all the way through it again because as you make your way to the boss you will open up shortcuts that usually make it easy to get back pretty quick. I think once I opened up the shortcuts it took me about 5 mins to make it back to the boss for a second try.

I finally killed the 4th boss after about 20 attempts lol.

Hmm should probably go to bed. Feel like there isn't much left though :(

Not sure if the difficulty plateau's at a certain point or I've just gotten better/have a good build but really haven't struggled on any boss upto
Amygdala
. That said game joins Demon's+Dark Souls well above Dark Souls 2

Ive just done my 4th boss and i must agree, blows dark souls 2 out of the water in terms of difficulty, lore and setting. Cant wait to replay and see what other order things could be done in.

I did randomly end up in another area of the game and wasnt sure if i was meant to be there yet so explored around and found an easier path and a boss so i assume im back on track :D

Had my first proper go this morning, already loving it, I somehow skipped over both Dark Souls games but really enjoyed Demon Souls.

I was worried that I preferred the sword and shield system more so may not enjoy this but should never have worried, got myself up to the first boss fairly easily then got squashed, have chosen now to explore more and level up rather than go straight back to the boss, got caught out with my second death from stupidity in some sewer area by underestimating what looked like a normal mob.

Will explore that area a bit more then focus on the boss later today but glad I took the plunge with this digitally.

Is there likely to be any DLC for this, there wasn't any for Demon Souls (that I remember) did Dark Souls feature any?

Dark souls 2 had three pieces (1 good, 1 fantastic and 1 great) and dark souls 1 had one piece that was easily the best part of the game with three of the best bosses into the series and another solid boss.

Where the hell do you go after Gascoigne? I've been round absolutely everywhere and all the gates/doors that I've come across are all locked?

Scratch that. A door that wouldn't open just did.

just as the enemy, just do it on the big ogres no need for the draggling, fire your gun when the have their weapon in the air, it will stun them, hold down R1 for a second or 2 and you'll just about take the goon out in one hit. Takes practice.

Upgrade your armour by returning to the refuge when you have enough blood points, essential imo.

oh and use fire bottles(moltive) on the tougher enemies like the 2 wolves on the bridge, get their health down with one throw and tear them to pieces, one at a time if possible.

I used 4 on the wolves but still managed to get owned, I have restarted and chose a better starting class as I'm not good enough to play as the waste of space class I chose.

Got to the first boss after bowt 3 hours of gaming, takes a bit of getting used to but enjoyable once you give it a chance and get going.

Camera angles are a real struggle during boss fight!

Co-op mode - so how does this work then fellas?

- One insight each to buddy up? only 2 people or more?
- Can you only co-op on the bosses or can you roam the world together?
- How do rewards work?

questions questions :)

Just got to these wolves and got completely mullered. I really suck at this game. I just can't get into it, don't seem to be getting any better either. The very slow loading screens and constant deaths means I'm just not enjoying it. Think I'll try a quick sale and recoup what I can.

Just a quick one, can you buy this for download from the PS store in Mexico using Hola! and download it to your UK PS4?

That's not how it works.

You don't need a proxy to access another region's store but you do need an account set up for that region.

Loads of us on here have US and Jap accounts. It's not hard to do and a quick Google should find you a guide.

OK, thanks. Just sick of paying inflated UK prices for new games :( I will look into it. Cheers.

Look up insight on blood borne wake that'll let you know, I can't quite remember

You can roam sections of the world together basically between boss areas iirc
