*** The Official Bloodborne Thread ***

For the people talking about story and having to try more than once did you even read the reviews? Makes sense why some sites are removing the scoring system, if you can't be bothered to read and know what you're getting it isn't too surprising you're annoyed at doing things no other AAA game asks as largely you're spoonfed a story on rails with no difficulty

Anyone else think the difficulty is massively hyped? Played first time last night and got to the first boss and killed it first time, relatively easily. Due to everyone saying how insanely hard it is I was expecting more!

Not sure yet, not got to the boss but I had a tough time killing the hooded brute early on.

I've been staying out of this thread as I don't want anything spoiled but having played the game for a good few hours now I can safely say that the most frustrating thing for me is the absolute mess that is target lock, it is just so damn unpredictable to use and has killed me so many times when instead of locking my target it just turns me around instead :(

I'm in online mode. Seems to just reconnect when you go back in.

I tried this last night but it seemed to screw up for me. Suspend booted me back to the bloodborne menu and said only offline was available. It did try to connect but it kept failing.

It seemed to screw up everything and my system jammed up, so I had to hold down power button on ps4.

Maybe a blip but not the greatest experience trying suspend mode for the first time.

Do you aim the camera generally towards what you want to lock on to before locking?

Not quite true IMO. For an expert player, or someone with a lot of Souls experience, grinding out levels isn't really necessary. For a new player to the series, grinding out levels can make a massive difference. Putting 10 levels into Vitality for example can make a huge difference in how long they can survive for. Putting some points into a Endurance will let them keep swinging away whereas a more experienced player will instinctively manage it better. New players need those levels.

Have to agree. I don't have the patience to do perfect runs on bosses and I would probably lose my rag if I died to the same boss more than 10 times. Vitality allows me to make mistakes and live, so it does make the game a lot easier. I've not really noticed the strength and agility stats making a huge difference, but they're still useful to rank up for weapon requirements. I was struggling a bit on the boss who holds a medallion in her hands(think I died 3 times in total) so I decided to up my strength so I could equip the vendor sword that costs 20k. I absolutely annihilated her first time after equipping the sword, that's not me playing better, that's me equipping an imbalanced weapon :p. To me, It doesn't make sense to die over and over trying to kill a boss when you can use the same time to grind out some levels and make it easier and considerably less frustrating in the process.

Sometimes they do, sometimes it'll be on the ground. I don't fully understand why it changes, it probably depends on who kills you, whether man or beast.
From what I've seen the echoes will be on the ground where you died, but they will pass to an enemy if it walks over them. I assumed they passed to the monster that kills you but I've observed my echoes passing to monsters that were already dead at the time I died on multiple occasions. It wasn't until I died to a ham that I finally figured that out. I was about to pick up my echoes off the ground where I saw them a few seconds before but they had vanished, the ham had picked them up when it walked over them.

I've just progressed past the boss who fires blue salvos, it was the first boss that I didn't kill first attempt since using the sword but it died easily the second time I attempted it. This is the first souls game I've played and i'm not really finding it that hard to be honest even though I'm an absolute clutz.

Yeah catch 22 situation I used the PayPal £10 off offer so ended up only paying 40 notes and not the overinflated GAME prices
But then now I'm stuck with it lol

Well I spent some time levelling up my character last night - got to level 23 from level 10 pretty easily just farming the first section, getting enough 'glimmer' then running back to the hunters dream to use it before I died and lost it. Pretty easy enough.

Last thing I did was go back to take a quick smash at the first boss (cleric beast) - smashed him down straight away - nothing fancy, just hack n slash. That was after trying to down him a couple of times before when I started playing on fri night.

Much easier when levelled up. Gorgeous atmosphere to the game. We also got to try out multiplayer last night. This is the process we found that worked:

- Both characters need to be roughly the same level (i.e. 10 apart tops)
- Both characters need to be in the same area
- Person who wants to assist rings his bell (requires 10+ insights to get it)
- Person wanting help then rings his summoning bell
- Theres a blue glow and it connects them together after a quick black screen.

Took a while getting there - we tried it earlier - I tried to summon someone first, he then rung his bell - wasted me insight :( - it just wouldn't connect.

Time to face fatty tonight :)

I feel much the same of this same as I do the others. I know I'm never going to finish it or possibly even get 25% in. I die all the time, I read how to beat a certain enemy but struggle with the camera angles etc and never work it out for myself how to dodge some attacks.
That said, it keeps drawing me back in and I rarely get frustrated with it for the difficulty, I get bored having to do something over and over at time but a short break remedies that.
It's an example of a game I enjoy even though I know I'll never win, much like when I play Civ V at the higher difficulties, I know it's unlikely I'll win but I have a blast regardless.
