HP Stream 7

It might be, but anything has to be better over the 2.5" screen on camera where you can see nothing, of night sky photos. Not so much serious can do that at home, more just to see what I have, unfortunately a lot if that requires photos to be stacked before you even get an idea if you have anything reasonable.

Noticed this was back in stock at lunchtime today. The PC25 code worked and had a £20 MS store credit from buying a Xbox so for £30 today seemed too good to miss! Worst case it's a back for my iPad or something for my toddler to play with.

The lack of apps annoys me, but its because its a 'proper' OS rather than a touch one. Things like only allowing one browser to open in the Modern UI is a bit stupid though.

Build quality for 50 quid is staggering however! Its rather embarrassing to put it next to my 2012 Nexus 7 and realise I paid 4x as much for that!

You do realise you can open up multiple windows in modern IE?
Long press on the tab and select open in new window. It is effectively two modern IE open side by side.

Unless that doesn't work due to screen res.

Missed my delivery yesterday, so should come today!...

Just got a quick question or two... What's the largest size MicroSD card that this baby will take? What's the best make/model MicroSD card this baby will take??!! :)

Should be getting mine today also :-).

I've seen a video of a review and they put a Samsung 64GB card in it without a problem.

Dubs.

I mean more than one actual Browser. If I set IE as my default browser it opens in Modern UI, but then Chrome will always open the Desktop version. If I change Chrome to open in Windows 8 mode then it bumps IE off of the Default spot and then that only opens in Desktop mode :(

Why can I not have both IE and Chrome open in the Modern UI mode by default :(

Mines got a 64GB Samsung microSDXC card in and it works fine. Although I've not found much use for it yet as I cant seem to find a way to install apps to it?

No way to install windows store apps to secondary storage im afraid. Really hope they change this in W10.

Umm... What? Chrome only has a desktop version for windows 8.

It's just the way it works, no way around it. To be fair the ModernUI IE is pretty good and I exclusively use it on my tablet.

No it has a pseudo Chrome-OS style ModernUI interface when set as default browser.

No it has both a Modern UI full screen version and a desktop version.

I'm trying to exclusively use the Modern UI, but if you have more than 1 browser you will always be dumped back into Desktop mode when using one of them :(. Its stupid that they have tied the Modern UI functionality to the Default browser only :(

Mine arrived yesterday, haven't had much chance to play with it, but first impressions are very impressive! For £50 at least. It's never going to be a high power device, but for what it actually is I'm amazed.

I gave the steam in-home streaming a quick go. It was only on the Bioshock infinite benchmark facility, as I don't have a spare keyboard/mouse to hand to plug in. But it streamed fine, with my desktop connected to the 5G network, and the tablet on the 2G. No lag, and timing was great.

Will hopefully give it a go with an actual game somewhen soon.

Any other questions from people?

Do we have a "Windows 8 Modern Apps" or a "Cool things to do wth Windows 8" thread anywhere?

I've unexpectedly used it to learn a lot about UEFI and Windows Recovery lately :p. but now I'm running out of things to do with it.
