ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

no it is just to back a sunni govt and fight the other side backed by their enemy Iran

they don't seem too fussed about oil prices, if they wanted to increase them like some opec members want then they'd do so, at the moment the effect lower prices are having on US shale producers suits the saudi's fine

Well the answer cannot come from the West.

Bombing has very little effect apart from taking out a tin pot command structure, but when the strings are being pulled from Iran/ Saudi then you have to question why are we selling arms, but if we didnt then china/Russia would and they have even less morals than us.

A friend of mine is thinking of going out to syria/north iraq to hook up with the kurdish fighters. Seems they are attracting a lot of ex western veterans in the fight against is. This is kind of like the war in the balkan region, ethnic/religious divide with a load of outsiders threw into the mix.

What exactly is this referring to? In this discussion, regarding ISIL, Iran are running bombing raids in Iraq and providing troop support to ISF against ISIL.

Yes, one has to wonder if the local councillor, father to one of these idiots (a term used accurately, as anyone who thinks bringing four children to a warzone is certainly idiotic), had any idea that this was going on?
Devastating what children can hide from parents, but to the point of shipping the entire family elsewhere? Worrying.

What do you mean?
Iran and Saudi are as opposite ends of the spectrum.

He was detained by Turkish authorities on Wednesday as part of a group believed to include his aunt, Zadia Bi, two of her sons, one of the son’s wives and children aged one, three, eight and 11.

Seems an odd makeup to be going out to join a terrorist group...

Reading past the headline (Which screams it's to do with ISIS), they have no idea why this group were on the border, though it does mention the possibility of humanitarian aid for the Syrian people.

I'm sure we'll find out in time....though better keep scanning page 20 for the story if it turns out they had no connection with ISIS :p

Seems fairly typical to me. Everyone knows that jihadis in this country are hiding behind the "aid to Syria" facade.

Wonder if this Labour councillor will turn out to be a secret jihadi like the father of one of those 15 year old girls who went to the Islamic State?

What possible humanitarian aid could a family of 4 young adults with no provisions and 4 children possibly provide in a warzone?

Well Al shabab seem to have gone and made a mess of things in Kenya. Apparently 150 beheaded, specifically targetting Christians.
So this tiny minority of a religion seems to be screwing up a fair few countries. That's Nigeria a complete mess. Iraq. Somalia. Yemen. And Kenya. Can't be such a tiny minority after all...

No, this will be a one off lone wolf attack not related to religion, these were peaceful strikes on Christian school children by fake Islamic not real Muslims, the gunmen were probably all mentally ill.
