BattleField Hardline Performance Review AMD vs Nvidia

Once you start too take into account bang for buck then the 290x should be compared against the 970 and the winner is even more clear. Still I like my 480gtx has served me faultlessly for years is a great room heater and still sounds like a vacuum cleaner but it is getting too the point when an upgrade maybe required will wait and see what happens when AMD release their next generation as we should at lease see a shift around in pricing and TI edditions being released

Apart from the fact that this review has different results to other place's which makes it pretty suspect and that people will read somthing on the internet and take it as fact all this post has done is start the silly fight between Charmander's and Bulbasaur's so i think this should just be deleted.

Because someone could make a post on a random website and say the latest 980 gtx causes cancer and i bet people would go well i am glad i bought this 290x.

So to sum it up, numerous websites show the GTX980 on top but here on OCUK the one anomalous review which shows 290X beating GTX980 by quite a margin gets highlighted. Yep, sounds like OCUK. ;)

heh? It's not an OCUK review? Looks like OC3D review to me...

To be fair the 290X is a cracking card, and if I was at 1080p I'd be running one!! Just wasnt impressed with their lacklustre Crossfire profiles etc thats's all!!

If they improve for the 390X launch (and maybe get a another guy or 2 in the driver dept) then I'll consider getting a pair :p :D

If there are discrepancies regarding the benchmark then can't people who own Hardline run these tests to verify the integrity of these sites?. It would squash the reason for debate which more times than not, spirals out of control in the graphics section. Sadly I don't own and have no intention of owning Hardline.

srsly what did i get a warning for??? lol
shanks tell him i wasnt being rude dam u! :E

thats messed up tho im always nice on here, well except to gregster, i wouldnt be mean to shanky :( <3
grr how do i protest??? lol

If you take a look back through the thread you'll see why that warning was issued. The reason you're still posting and not on a short self-reflecting holiday (suspension) tells me that you're safe/innocent. The moderators won't single out a name when sending a warning as it's a notice to all.

Asus Radeon R9 290X ROG Matrix Platinum 4096MB £290

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Matrix Platinum 4096MB £560

(I think I have highlighted the correct cards)

Why are these two cards been compared?

They aren't nearly in the same price bracket.

Talk of new/old/gen doesn't matter, people buy on price and performance. Even the cheaper 290x/980 there is still £200 between them.

Mother Of God!

I always thought a new gen meant new architecture. Ie 980,970 titanx all one gen, 750.

Wrong; 750; 970, 980; are all maxwell 1....Titan X is maxwell 2...

I wouldn't say AMD is 2 gens behind; at max 1.5 gens; but really is only 1 gen behind *with tonga* because of just how well GCN was designed; they don't need a new arch as some keep saying; GCN just needs to evolve a bit which we'll see in Fiji...we've some of that in Tonga;

I think it is just a 1 generation gap, even if you want to call it that because the 290X holds it own against the 980 perf wise, which perf wise is not a massive improvement over the 780ti.

The 980 is basically a 290X perf wise with a significant power/heat drop which is why I bought into them (the 980).

I bought into the 980 before they raised the price though, I am not sure I would jump at them now for over £500 a pop, I would have probably gone with 290X 8GBs instead.

The bait was set with "AMD vs NVidia" in the thread title.

A small number have taken the bait. It would have been far worse prior to the 3 strike rule.

I wondered why it's so quiet and calm in here of late, half the forum is missing. :p
