75 miles today. Snow, mega wind, rain, sunshine and my friends bike shredded a shifter cable then his cassette fell apart..... Got 4x 2015 segment KOM's for the CAT2 climb, wish I was good enough to get proper KOM's not just 2015 ones :P All in all, a good day despite the weather. 215 miles for the week :)

Amazing weather today and the first time I've taken the TT bike out for a short spin. Got blown all over the place. Might have to change the front to a low profile one to try to straighten up and not soil myself when the guts come.

Hopefully you mean gusts, or is cycling in the UK really that dangerous?

Painful to throw yourself back in with that distance too! The weight will come down just keep riding and don't worry about it! I'm nearly 3 stone lighter than a year ago, the first 2 stone I really noticed as it came with my fitness and really getting into cycling, the (almost) 3rd I really haven't as I've just been concentrating on my riding! Weight doesn't bother me too much providing i'm not as big as I was (15 stone) and enjoying myself! To be honest I want to ride better on hills so should lose more but I like my food too much! ;)

Yeah it was a baptism by fire for sure! I'm not used to having to play catch up while the others wait at the top. It used to be the other way round!

I was about 13.5 stoneish at my peak fitness. Maybe 14-14.5 when I stopped completely. I'm pushing 16.5 at the moment so got a bit to shift. The extra weight should get my fitness up quicker though I suppose.

I've just been out and put another 16 miles into my single speed. I decided to have a stab at a bit of climbing, so I did a route with about 700 feet over those 16 miles. That works out at about 44 feet per mile, which is what I've averaged over the course of each of the past 3 years, so that's a fairly representative ride in the grand scheme of things. It was hard work at times, but I got on OK. The worst gradient I was up against was short bursts of 6-7%, and I'm not sure I'd want to do much more than that, or for terribly long, but I got through it OK.

I've planned out a route to our usual cafe, with my single speed in my mind. The cafe is about 250 absolute feet higher than my house, but getting there means about 800 feet of climbing and 550 feet of descent over about 15 miles, so that'll probably be quite a challenge on this bike. I'll have to reward myself with a big cake if I make it.

With ss you've got no choice just to push! The above strava ride was also done by my brother on his ss! 16/49 gearing! And he even beat me up spa hill duh.. ! :)

Bike has been dropped off at check-in. Now the long wait to see if it makes it to Mallorca in a usable condition. Fingers crossed.

First ride on the new bike this morning. Position feels really odd which is probably partially down to it simply being a different bike but I definitely need to sort the setup a little.

Still, it felt damn fast and light, even with all my commuting gear strapped to it :)

Try lifting the bike up and putting it in the big ring at the front and changing down to the biggest sprocket at the back. As long as it goes ok you'll be fine, as you'll never be using this big/big combination out on the road anyway.
Depends how much climbing you do!

What deep section disc wheels are they? I'm already looking at an upgrade set for my new winter bike. That's only coming with Aksiums, so nothing special.

You should never be using big-big :)

What if you have Di2 or Red/Force 22 ;)

I got some prices for a new Zipp rim today.

Bare rim, $860
Crash replacement discounted wheel $970
Full price was just under $1100

Not much of a discount! Might as well buy a new rim and keep the hub from the old one, after paying to have the hub and new spokes built up a bare rim would cost more than a new one!

Race was cancelled this morning due to a collapsed manhole, which was annoying seeing as I based my whole weekend around it.

Saw that on Strava, kinda annoying a manhole collapses without any heavy rain! :/

Fully commuterised the bike - just thought I'd post a picture for the haters :p

It still looks damn fast! ;)

Well I didn't collapse in a heap at the side of the road so I'm happy with that. Only took an 8 minute break before heading back home. Felt I probably could have stopped on the way back in but soldiered on. The main killer was the wind, head / cross wind on the way out which made it quite tough. Fun on the way back down though :D

Great ride mate, very jealous of the scenery around there you probably have! I'm betting the roads are much quieter than here too!

did go out for that local hilly route I planned out yesterday, only did 2 laps(14.5mi-ish/each) before my brother gave up! - he was at the end of the day on a single speed.

Impressed you managed to find that many hills quite near you, Londons not as flat as I remember! Tell your brother you're doing leg day today! ;)

Have fun! Bring some sun back for us!

Easy ride in this morning for me, saving my legs for later (riding for the first time with some other guys).

Took the dog for a long walk yesterday so maybe not as fresh as I could be! Weather is much cooler this morning but no strong winds yet, thankfully...

Lucy sod! So envious. You will have an awesome time!

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, we will be booking our trip at the weekend... It has been a pain in the bum trying to organise it this year.

I do live in a bumpy area ;) quite a few cyclists around those climbs! especially the college hill with over 6k+ on strava! nice roads over-all but traffic still bothers me especially down hills! plus the winds were mental!

I've been using it quite often, nothing wrong with it IMO?

I guess if you're pretty WiFLi then you get to do all sorts of things ;)

my mech is wifli'ed :P
