You may already know but Amelia has 5 weak points that stagger her. I took out both her legs/knees then when she's staggered went to work on her arms.
You can break both her arms which puts some hurt on her then finished off with the head when I had the chance to hit it.

Most of the bosses work this way so always try to hit the same part each time until you stagger them, then move onto another.

The damage you do can vary massively depending on where you hit a boss.

When I broke her arms, she held them close to her side and seemed to use them a lot less - and looked in pain when she did. Not sure if they hurt less or anything if they hit?
But either way getting her arms felt like it really screwed her over for me.

Did a level 4 chalice dungeon last night and got the last weapon for the trophy and a high level blood gem for another trophy! 75% done now!

Think all i have left now is ending related and the chalice boss one :3

Beat The Witch of Hemwick on my second go last night, I didn't find her that easy and it took me about fifteen minutes. Kinda fluked it somehow! I used up all of my 20 blood vials in the process :)

I'm level 46 by the way, about 12 hours in. I think I'm almost ready for Amelia!

After being away for a week, and only killing two bosses before I went, I've been on a bit of a tear the past few days. I've beaten Vicar Amelia, The Witch of Hemwick, Shadow of Yharnam and Darkbeast Paarl, all solo, all first time. The Dark Souls muscle memory seems to be fully back now and I'm really enjoying myself. Not sure where to go next though, I think I have a few different ways I can go. Looking forward to exploring more tonight.

You can get the flamethrower by going to the central Yarnham lamp and repeatedly talking to the guy in the window before the gate that leads left.

I don't have the flamethrower either and was wondering where to get it. I remember speaking to the man in the window loads of times and at the minute he just has a coughing fit when I speak to him. Have I missed the chance now or is there somewhere else to get it?

You can buy it too - but not sure when it shows up in the shop.
I missed it first time through but bought it towards the end of the game.

I had a funny message the other day after someone invaded me.
We had a 2-3 min even fight and I quickly took 1 blood vial to make sure I survived then finished him off.

The guy then messaged me saying I must suck because I healed....lol

What an absolute moron

I can understand an arranged gentlemen's duel - but you invade my game to murder me while I have >2million blood echoes on me and expect me to fight in accordance with some unknown rule you just made up in your head?
If you're that daft, I'll happily murder you all day long :D

I didn't do a whole lot of PvP but found it much better than in previous games. I rarely ever won in previous games - people would just glitch through my body then do some insta back stab.
Killed all 12-15 of the people who invaded me and it felt pretty satisfying.

My mate was using the fully upgraded cannon and he was decimating invaders. Just tag them a few times then when they go to heal blast them. 100% success rate as 1 hit takes off 80-90% of most health bars. When I was in his game I just distracted them or parried them and BOOM - off they go. You could totally troll people with that thing!

The gravestones you see in the hunters dream are just a method of capping how many different Chalice Dungeons you can have going at the same time. You can overwrite current chalice dungeons set to a gravestone with a different chalice dungeon(or the same one if you're that way inclined) if you need to but you will lose any progress you made in that chalice dungeon as well as any resources you used to make it. When you fully complete a chalice dungeon and have run out of free slots there is little point in keeping it, unless you need to farm a particular resource that drops from certain enemies.

There's little point in making 2 of the same chalice dungeon at the start, just work through the one you have made and finish it. It should unlock a different chalice dungeon that you can make which will be slightly harder. Just keep repeating this process, harder chalice dungeons will drop higher teir loot which will allow you to make the harder dungeons. The lower tier resources are actually pretty easy to come by later on so don't worry about using them. You can actually buy them from the vendor in the hunters dream, but you may only have access to the first tier of resources, as you progress into harder chalice dungeons, higher tiers of chalice resources will be available for sale

The starting chalice blueprints(you start with Pthumeru or something similar), of which there are 4 types are mainly earned through killing certain bosses in the game. Much more information here

Thanks. I understand enough now to realise I just wasted my time ding the same chalice cup on 3 different alters (the fact the enemies were the same should have been a clue!!). The wiki link you gave helps as well.

I have 2 other chalice's so will activate those on the other altars. But, in essence, sounds like there are many chalices and I will have to swap them around. I just assumed 5 sets of dungeons for the 5 level Altars.

I beat someone Miclosh now and am in Mergo's loft. I sense I am nearing the end , but there are a couple of bosses I need to go back to try and beat (Daughter of Estoris or something and Martyr Logorious(sp?)) as I now have +9 weapons and level 36 Health, Stamina, Strength.

The optional bosses are worth doing on your first playthrough as it will be easier to out level them and smash them up. I made the mistake of leaving a lot of areas unexplored in my first playthrough so I had to do most of the harder bosses in NG+ but I doubt it makes a massive difference either way.

I've platinumed the game now, I feel slightly relieved knowing I don't have to play the game again :p I can't believe I never had one person invading my game in multiple playthroughs.

Also don't forget the blood rock so you can get a +10 weapon. I stupidly missed out picking that up on my first run even though I saw the entrance to the hidden area where its found.

I am searching every possible area to look for the Blood Rock(s). I have avoided guides etc so have missed some optional stuff, but I want to see if the +10 really makes a difference, so hopefully I find the Rocks! I guess the Chalice Dungeons will have them but I reckon I will play them in NG+ tbh.

Will I be able to get more than 1 Rock if I hunt around in the game? I have Saw Cleaver and Holy Blade on +9 at the moment.

What armour are you peeps using? Im using the graveguard gear but it looks a bit poo! Magic defense stats are good but its 30 less than my charred hunter stuff. Found a nice poison resistant white robes set on a roof in the lost forest that comes in very helpful with all the snakes

There is only one rock per playthrough, if you want any more you will have to brave the harder chalice dungeons. I've done a few of the highest tier chalice dungeons and I haven't seen a rock in there yet so they must be pretty rare. I have 26 arcane, so its not like I lack discovery(assuming that even makes a difference). Weapons are worth upgrading to +10 even though its no different than any other upgrade. Some weapons like the blade of mercy for example goes from Skill grade A to S on +10 so they are definitely worth putting the extra rank on.

I don't think you've come to the point where the blood rock makes an appearance yet. To give you a hint, its in between Micolash and the next boss.

That's the exact spot I am at now!!! I will start hunting around if I get a chance to play tonight!

Shame I sold the Blade of Mercy. Not enough shards/rocks etc to experiment much so I have only had the Threaded cane, Saw Cleaver, Blade of Mercy and Holy blade to +6. Then I sold the Blade for echoes and focused on Cleaver and Holy Blade to get +9. Sold the other spare shards for echoes as well :)

I'll compare the stats on the upgrade screen when the time comes, but which do you recommend to +10? Saw Cleaver or Holy Blade?

Holy Blade, its one of the best weapons as it is and it gains an increased arcane rank at lv10, not that the extra rank will be useful to you as you specced strength. The holy blade also scales just as well with Skill so it has a massive damage potential the more you get your stats up. My charged R2 does ~1400 damage and its still got some growth left in it.

Apparently the saw cleaver is better than it looks on paper so if that's your main weapon then ignore what I said and stick the extra rank on that instead.

Just a note on the Blood Rocks - You can only get 1 per run in a game, and 1 from a Chalice Dungeon. BUT, the kicker is that the Chalice Dungeons do not change when you go to NG+, NG++ etc and thus you can only ever get ONE Blood Rock from Chalice Dungeons....ever

I had 3 from my runs through the game and then got 1 from a Chalice Dungeon. I then did someone else's Chalice Dungeon to get another Blood Rock and the Blood Rock chest was empty...

So they are really stingy on giving these out!!

I found the original one without a guide - but I am not sure I would have had I not played Souls games before. Let's just say, Elevators often have more than 2 entrances/exits ;-) in Souls games.
If the door doesn't close when you enter one, take that as a major hint!!!

And when you find the Blood Rock one, you'll know - because the enemies guarding it are the most annoying enemies in the game (you can't fight them unless you gear specifically to fight that 1 enemy type) so you know something really rare is behind them.

You can access the area via a locked door, but you need to get there via the elevator first to trigger a small event or you'll just die horribly like I did at first when trying to go that way.

I am certain this is where I am. Cage Lift with no door, on the way down I saw a opening in a window and stepped in and this area leads to 2-3 walking brains that I can't beat yet......Like you say, as they are tough I know they are protecting something, so I have not continued beyond this section yet (I imagine to continue the level I should stay in the lift all the way down and explore etc).

Gonna have a quick game now, even though I wasn't going to!!

I have just unlocked my first dungeon and managed to get to the watchdog on level 3 but I don't quite understand what I am using them for.

Also is it just me...where is the story for this game? I just know I am a hunter, killing demons after waking up from the hospital bed (if you can call it that)

The story is masked amongst the lore descriptions of items that you find, but it isn't served up in a linear fashion. If you fancy trying to piece it together yourself, just make sure that you're reading all of the descriptions of inventory items to get the info.

Or look up a YouTube video. :D
