What did you do to your bike today?

changed all my bulbs to led .. resprayed indicator rear reflectors as the chrome effect had come off as aprilia decided there was no seal required . fitted new led front indicators . Stripped nose fairing off and cleaned and polished it .. found a leaking left fork seal so another job for next weekend.. will do the pair as dust seal on right side looking ropey

Tyre levers are a nightmare if you want to keep you're rim scratch free, even when using rim protectors they can get scuffed up!
plus they are a complete ball ache to use on larger sports tyres.

My tyre bar is a rough copy of one of these,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Ty...924?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item487b2d9bf4

They have hard nylon ends which protect the rim from scratching and they do a really good job!

You can buy a kit here but you'd have to retro fit it to something, ok it you're handy at welding, or in my case handy with wood :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/manual-ty...948?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27fd6c0364

You can buy blocks of nylon for a fraction of the price and to be honest I could have easily made the parts myself but I wanted a good pattern to go to. When my current ones ware out I'll have a go at making them myself.

As for the bead braker its just a cheap one from e-bay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mechanics...718?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20e57ecc16

but I've replaced the center rod with a bit of M18 stainless threaded rod which is much more sturdy when you're levering off of it.

The rest of just made up of bits of wood and nuts and bolts.

It works surprisingly well, on a good run I can have a tyre off and on in 10 mins and I'm not swearing at every thing like I would be if I were using tyre levers!

here's a video of how it works.

Brilliant thanks for that! I will give it a go making one I think.
Already have the bead breaker, just need the bar :D
Also that video is brilliant :p

I took the Swiss Route 66 to have an ice cream by Murten lake:

I went for a run up Derbyshire, Stapleton/Ibstock/Coalville/A511/BurtonUponTrent/A50/A515/Ashbourne/South end of Peak District near Dovedale Nation Nature Reserve. Absolutely Epic route from start to finish. The miles just roll by with ease, Nowhere is far enough to ride.

Checked and dropped the pressures in my tyres last night, the problem with running a Jap import bike - everything is in Japanese!! they were a few PSI too high, noticed the front wandering when filtering. felt much better this morning in the ride to work. Soon be new tyre time :)

Bike felt very weird riding in and home today - at slow speeds, under 30mph, doing the 'weave' and turning under 25/30mph, the bike seemed to 'fall' into the turns more, and the bars were turning much more than before - I presume this is due to running correct pressures (225kpa front and 250kpa rear, 32.5 and 36.5psi)? Above 30/40mph it felt normal.

Hard to describe, but before when weaving at 30mph the bike would lean but it would 'resist' - and the bars would stay straight ahead, held there. Now, it leans much more easily, and the bikes front wheel turns aswell.

Didn't feel bad, just different! Was a bit strange! I was running around 4-5psi high on both front and rear.

Wouldn't you be better Vapor blasting them or sand blasting?

We do small parts like that where i work and we Anodise them in chrome, stops any corrosion and gives them a protective coating. :)

I think i'll do it to my bike stuff when i figure out how to remove them and put them back on properly. :p

I already had them media blasted ;) I was gonna have em polished n clear powdercoated but they wouldn't have matched the frame

if I worked in a place that did anodising I would anodise everything on my bike :D

I want my wheels done next, but I want them matched to original colour if I can

Nice ;) What's the original color?

Officially signed for my new Speed Triple R today :D

Getting it on Friday! They might not have the addons (exhausts, gel seat, anodised brake reservoir) by then but said they will put them on at first service if I want, which I think might be quite good as it'll make the first service extra exciting & I can really see the difference between exhausts.

Also need to remember to get my stock stuff off them! Hadn't thought about that until my brother mentioned it tonight... I would have happily ridden off with the Arrows and left them with the stocks, but the stocks are mine! Something to sell off :)

Mine did this at the correct pressures, I put it back up to 36/42 as it felt much better.

Don't sell the originals as you may need them in the future especially when it comes to selling the bike on.
