Annoying cracking sound when moving my handlebars to the 90 degrees to the left/right and sometimes just randomly. I've tried re-tensioning and re-greasing everything but no difference. Going to check out the cable ends shortly and then a proper disassemble and clean... and then give up and buy a new headset I suspect. Gah :/

Make sure you haven't over tightened the top cap. I had this on my Wilier. did the strip down thing but on re-assembly put very little torque into the top cap and it solved the issue.

My backside thanked me this morning.

Bought a new saddle and was delivered Friday, took advice from here and grabbed a Charge Spoon, what a difference from the stock saddle, much more comfortable to ride & helped improve my ride as it didn't hurt! :p

Happy cyclist now. :D

I'll try loosening a little though it was fine for about 750 miles of riding before it developed this issue and when I re-did it I used the same setting on my torque wrench.

Awesome ride & climbing! Not many places in the UK to do that much climbing (without doubling back on yourself)! What were the winds/weather like?

BikeFit is something I need to do I think, just afraid of being told my bike is completely wrong :p

LBS does a Trek Bike Fit for £80, might give that a go.

Fatigue also a possible reason, not been riding too long.

However you've got your bike set up (& how much time you've taken) you'll find it's 'wrong'! ;)

I found my position was all over the place after doing my own - even after only a £35 'basic fit' things where 100x better! Well worth it! Once I've got more miles in me I'm probably going to fork out on a £80+ one but I don't see the point doing it now - not until my technique is better & I've lost most of the weight I'm going to! ;)

Happens to everyone at least once :D.

Per set of pedals? (I've got some to change soon and dreading it!) :p ;)

'Quiet' weekend for me - Saturday was a good 10 hours of visiting family, dropping off dog, visiting gran parents and driving getting to Alton Towers (170 miles) followed by some fantastic food and few too many beers... (bumped into some old friends!) :D

Sunday around the park (dread to think how much walking we did! My legs are shot...) followed by the 5 hour journey home (& pickup dog, 130 miles).

No cycling but quite a bit of walking! I'm going out tonight with a friend for a few miles, fingers crossed I've got the legs for it!

Weather looks fantastic here so far, slightly windy but skies are clear! Overheated a little on the way in to work this morning as it was so warm - 12 degrees or more! Fingers crossed it continues this week! :D

Anyone got any tips for stopping cramp? I find on rides over the 30 mile mark my right medialis really flares up.

I'm always suitably hydrated pre, intra and post ride but it appears to be the same bit each time that gets me!
Are you taking on enough salt? Hydration is fine but if you're only taking on carbohydrate then it might leave you prone to cramping.

Also: Etixx said to try chelated magnesium supplement.

Wonderful British weather on my ride this morning. Blazing sunshine and 30 mph headwinds. Still managed an average of 16mph with 1600ft of climbing. Was a shortish ride of 38km.

My left leg cramps something chronic if it gets cold. If I do a big climb and then cool down at the top my leg cramps up. Maybe something to think about?

Yeah, I would recommend making up a drink with an electrolyte tab in them.

As mentioned keep hydrated, I've only cramped up a few times on the bike. Occasionally get it afterwards if I don't continue stretching. I've felt it a only few times when actually riding - mine is like a slightly tighter more painful lactate buildup. I usually drop a few cogs and spin my legs at 95+ cadence for a minute or two as it usually means I've been pushing a lower-80's cadence when I really shouldn't be.

Any rides over 15+ miles I tend to only drink tabs (no plain water). Partly as I get bored/sicky from just drinking water, I usually have a dash of squash in plain water to give it some slight flavour but not in the tabbed.

The SiS tabs didn't agree with me (nor do their gels) but the High5 ones are great. More recently I've been using the Wiggle tabs and they're good too. I don't tab when commuting so find 2 tubes of 20 last me 4-6 weeks (I always have 2 different flavours so don't get sick/bored of 1 on a long ride).

Was my birthday last wednesday....sister got me these.

Dont be jealous everyone.

also, I stripped the thread out of the grub screw on my rear BMC break. Gave it to Evans to replace the whole brake (no way of retreiving the screw sadly) and ive been given a ETA of the 21st of May until I get the bike back. IF I get it back on the 21st...it would have been with them for 5 weeks. :-(

If it goes over the 21st I might not have a bike to use in Mallorca which i'll be really annoyed about. Evans arent the problem, it's BMC not having any in stock. Love the bike...but hate it when producers dont have plents of proprietaryitem in stock especially when the bike is less than a year old. They even use the same brake on the 2015 bike!

Next bike will be using standard Shimano items and nothing 'unique' which rules out the TMR02 again.

I'd be raging hard at Evans and BMC. That's pretty shocking to say the least.

Gaaa I feel for you! When are you heading to Majorca?

When I was looking for my new bike I looked at the Trek Madone but was put off by it's "special" brakes. I wanted Campag for starters and they had to be Shimano.

Fly on the 6th of June. Bit of wiggle room for delay but not a lot!

standard (easily replaceable) components for my next bike...
