I think the opposite, it actually makes it less interesting because you're losing interesting story arcs by the changes they have made so far.

I disagree entirely, most of the so called 'arcs' we are losing seem to be excess baggage, which go nowhere and basically do nothing.

Jamie sent off to capture a few castles, gets sick of Cersie, has a chat with Brienne. Bronn doesn't do anything. Brienne basically doesn't do anything. The Boltons have some civil unrest built over the course of about 87 chapters..... The TV actually summarised this in 2 lines from Belish to Sansa. Works better that way, was utterly dull the book way. Danni has had little so do bar govern poorly. They've summarised this and not introduced 15 new SS companies, who come and go and are basically nameless.

I am happy with the changes, makes things different.

Yeah I like the series departing from the books... I always got bored in previous series knowing what was going to happen next. Lots of the 'scenic travels/aimless wandering around' were still quite interesting in the books but didn't translate well on screen and now they can remove some of the filler scenes with new stuff which is more fun and fairly well done thus far.

I think in some respects the TV show also might respond partly to how popular characters are etc...

as I've now read the books I'll put this in spoilers:

(to be clear, I am referring to the books in the below spoiler tags)
for example Bronn doesn't have much to do in the books at this point but the character in the TV series is likely very popular, makes sense to keep him in for commercial reasons in addition to adding to a potentially more interesting story arc with Jamie

Brienne has a journey where she doesn't find either of the stark girls, this might frustrate tv audiences as it would be a pointless arc for the tv show with no interaction with any other of the main characters - but again they will want to keep her character in the show so having her find sansa is more interesting... it will likely be her that rescues sansa in a complete deviation from the book since neither her nor sansa should even be there

also Arya changes her face in the books, I'd wager they keep Maisie Williams in that role as much as possible though as she is too popular

Absolutely loved the ending, still hoping the dragons are set free but its looking more likely they will stay chained up. Things are starting to unravel a lot more now.

great episode imo though would have liked to have seen more of valeria but good to see 'reek' back.

also i felt the way tyrion was 'rescued' was a bit rushed. one minute he's getting to the bottom of a river by a stoneman, the next he's rescued on a beach? was it at this point that mormont got touched?

I thought it was going to go off the moment he went under

Like the character, hate the actor.

I'd be happy if they got rid of her.

Quick question about the Stone Men touching thing -
We didn't see Jorah touched but I guess we have to assume it was during the rescue. Wasn't Tyrion also touched? After going overboard he was grabbed by the ankles and dragged down by one of the SM.

I would assume Tyrion got away with it since they never directly touched him, just grabbed at his clothes and that they got bare flesh on Jorah.

That or plot armour. Either works.
