Galactic Civilizations III - 64BIT announced

There is 50% off this on the stardock website for any game at moment until Tuesday so it is working out at £14.82 via paypal but still £27 on Steam.
Its still in Beta i believe

Just got the early access beta with release only being around 5-6 weeks away, what are everyones thoughts?

I'm getting a new PC soon anyway as it is out of date and GCIII melted it performance wise and whilst the gameplay was a little limited with diplomacy etc removed for now I absoloutely loved it. Really great game and cannot wait until full release.

Anyone else in beta and how you finding it?

Trying to avoid playing it until release, looking good. Just hope it pulls me in like Distant Worlds which is so far for me the best of the best, sir.

Yeah I've got it and really enjoy it. Hope they start to ramp up on the bug fixes now though. Loads of minor niggles that have been around for a while that need sorting

I would imagine they'll ramp up now with s mid May launch predicted.

I just want the diplomacy to fully launch, I think a decent game will become fantastic when that is included.

Is the game fully functional, as in gal civ II where the AI was second to none when ramped up in difficulty and great fun with it?

Are we looking at a more modern similar game, or have them implemented any actual changes in concept?

It went full retail yesterday. Not played the full retail version yet, but plan on playing the campaign soon. Played 20+ hours of of it when in early access a few weeks ago and it has improved a lot. Really enjoyed it.

Certainly a much better game than StarDrive 2. It has large UI for 4k for starters :D

Brad the CEO of Stardock said the game will likely be under development and supported for about 7 years. So we can expect many improvements and expansions/dlc like civilizations.

Ive not played it for a week or so so havent updated to the newest release.
As of last week it was playable but with a few features disabled still.
Still great fun.
If its anything like gal civ 2 then there will be plenty of patches initially after the launch to fix the bugs that appear once there is a bigger player base to find them

It needs a better tutorial. I played the original GalCiv ~20 years ago and I've little clue as to what I'm doing.

Just played and completed the first part of the campaign. Enjoyed it.

There is a tutorial now in the game. To be honest it is not really a hard game. I have played other 4x games which are unnecessarily harder.

I can recommend it. It won't blow your mind, but it certainly is very enjoyable. Thus far easily a 8 out of 10 here from me :)

I played a tiny bit of it yesterday. It's always tough to judge what the best 4X game is for me since there are surprisingly a lot. It doesn't really innovate too much in it's current state but it is everything you would want out of a solid 4X game.
