My ANT+ USB arrived today, got it all working so my HRM and Speed & Cadence sensor are feeding in to TrainerRoad. I'm a bit confused which Turbo I need to chose from the list though...
I have a CycleOps Mag which has no difficulty adjustment other than using the bikes gears. (There is another black dial which I think might affect difficulty? I had a play when I first set the trainer up but haven't touched it since).
I've got the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine II and it operates the same way - gear changes for difficulty. Your black dial does sound like difficulty but without a way of operating it from the handlebars it'll be pretty useless in any turbo session. Just stick it somewhere in the middle where you can ride at your favourite cadence (90?) with your HR fairly low (<140bpm in my case as my HR is usually quite high) in a medium-low gear.
Although mine is fluid, the general concept should be similar.
Was 102kg last May, got to 89kg last Sept, at 92kg again atm but trying to get it off, I struggle loosing it, I'm only 5'8!
I have clicking from the back after tightening the loose spoke up, need to get it to the LBS to be honest.
Did you check the neighbouring spokes on the same side as the loose one?
Spoke tension is a really hard thing to judge, I initially (when I first rebuilt my wheel) did it by the perceived effort of turning my cheap spoke key - I ended up rounding some of the spokes and I still had a loose wheel. The second time I did it very gradual, initially working the same number of turns into each spoke. This worked better but isn't much use to you!
The last couple of times when tightening I've done it by squeezing the spokes - I measured the tension (or tried to perceive the effort it took to grip and bend 2 spokes the same distance on a friends perfect wheel). I then gradually tightened my spokes (1/4 turn at a time) until my wheel roughly replicated his spokes tension. It's not perfect but without spending quite a lump of money on a spoke tension meter there's not many other ways to do it. I'm quite looking forward to fondling my new wheels' spokes in direct comparison
Regarding weight you're around the same height as me, similar weight to what I probably was autumn last year - I found the weight loss really tailed off at around 90kg, so much so I stopped weighing myself and just concentrated on my riding! Not seeing 'progress' (ie loss) can be quite annoying, I found my body shape changing (mainly loss of waist size) more of an encouragement
You're a lucky man, I really struggle to keep my weight down, put it on so quickly if I have a bad weekend. Which can make eating depressing at times. But rather have that than weigh what I used to weigh!
Same as grudas, no matter how much I eat my weight either stays the same or decreases :O
Currently sat at 63kg, and eating around 3,500 - 4,000 calories a day.
Everyone will be different, that's part of the problem! My mrs can eat what she wants (she's got more of a sweet tooth than me!) and she stays as a size 8/10 (depending on clothing brand).
I'm sat at 80-82kg, I have been for 3-4 months (since really upping my miles) but I've dropped down to there from 112kg around 2 years ago. Even without my weight changing much recently my body shape still is (down to ~33" waist). I've not really changed diet but would like to think I already ate quite a healthy balanced one!
Went out for a ride last night with some friends who go out most mondays (We jokingly call it 'Bike Club' - The first rule about Bike Club is...

). I had done an easy enough 32 miles solo on Sunday so this was my first real 'double-header', my legs were tired but not too bad...

With the heavy rain yesterday morning and sun forecast in the afternoon I thought I was prepared for anything (Ha!). Left work in windproof long sleeve jersey, shorts and summer socks. Sun was blazing down and I was slightly concerned about not carrying enough liquid and overheating in my long sleeves. I'd packed my jacket and waterproofs away in my commuting bag (dumped until return) but had my packable with me. The guys wanted to do 30 miles so I said I'd stick with them for 15-20 before heading back. We got around 8 miles out (quite high pace) and the rain started. It was more than a shower so I pulled over after getting my packable almost stuck in my crank and wrapped around my leg, lucky I did as the then torrential rain was joined by a horrific headwind! As I was struggling to catch back up there was hailstones too - painful when in summer shorts (no overshoes) and trying to push hard into a headwind! No chance of overheating now!

Sure enough as the other guys had gapped me so much (and none of us really sure what route we were going to do) I went a different way.

Realising I'd gone wrong I pulled over at a junction (as I knew a loop back to town I could do from there) only to hear a voice behind me! They'd turned back towards home even sooner & the other direction! Lightweights!
The sun came through the clouds so we backtracked slightly and went the shorter route they wanted to then do (around 20 miles). Part of this route headed back towards town, it was a nice route and one I'll remember (handy for a after work loop!) I'd semi dried out by this time but my feet were freezing and soaking wet (summer socks & no overshoes - must get myself some Belgian Booties!). I said I was heading towards home and they should carry on a longer route back if they wanted - they didn't want to so we had a good paceline going back towards town (fast A road). On the final stretch (Kings Acre, I ride it every day) we had a good race with several attacks even though there was only 3 of us

D). My legs were completely gone by the end of the ride but still felt strong. Easy spin back home, a big plate of chicken sweet & sour followed by a long hot bath. I slept well!
My new wheels and some other bits came yesterday so I drove to work today, I don't want to tempt fate but my legs feel good?! Maybe even better than yesterday morning (after my 32 miles sunday)?! Strange feeling but tomorrow will be the tell tale (I usually pay for my high mile/intensity rides 2 days later!)
With 86 miles done last week (big 30 mile+ rides both Monday & Sunday) - which is quite high for me and the biggest week I've done (yet!) followed by 22.4 miles yesterday I really expected my legs to be worse than they are... Hopefully I'm going to continue upping my mileage (or least maintaining these higher levels) with no problems!
