Emptied the water out of my wheels tonight, the tyres filled up between the tube and tyre!

!

Not sure that should be happening?! Or did you take a shortcut through a lake? :o

Great way to 'train hard'-er! ;)

Good idea on the back of this Northwave jersey, but just imagine the abuse you'd get. I'd more than happily wear one with the lower bit, but not the huge target across the shoulders...

Damn you guys are your none-broken legs :p

I've not been doing that many miles lately but my legs are just constantly knackered. Going to take it super super easy on Thu and Fri this week so I can hopefully be somewhat fresh for the Sat 200 mile ride.

Nah...

My legs have been knackered for 3 weeks since I started! :p

Tested the water on the weekend doing a 10mile ride down a different route towards other end of Birmingham which was quite good, so might try stretch it a few extra miles. My commute only covers 50-60 miles a week so, need something to bump up the figures!

I meant to reply to this earlier sorry.

Is there no profile for your turbo? There are a couple of TR posts that suggest that there should be:

Thanks,

Yeah I'd found both of those from my googling earlier but didn't find them that helpful :(

No idea which setting is which for the additional little black dial so will see if I can figure it out quickly before I do the test this evening as I'm tight for time.

I'd configured with '3' which showed as 'recommended' with '4' and '5' being the other options. The power readout felt low in comparison to what I experienced on a proper wattbike at the weekend so perhaps I have the trainer on a higher difficulty that I've plugged in to Trainer Road. For example I was on the big ring and almost top gear and having to give it some welly to get anywhere near 200W

Either way I'll keep my first & second FTP tests consistent so that they're comparable.

Having a turbo that has a twist dial to apply the roller seems potentially quite erroneous for creating another unwanted variable, even if the same procedure is followed each time...

You're right, it's not ideal at all. It's the same on my Road Machine and is a source of annoyance. One thing with the Kurt Kinetic fluid turbo units is that you can get an actual power meter attachment, which takes out the guess work.

now why would you say that ;) haha! both are pretty epic looking, but I'd go with canyon or rose tbh.. better bang for buck! I'd love to ride one to see what all the fuss is about!

Everyone knows red is faster!

Canyon Aeroad was one of my choices before I built the S3 to be fair, but the waiting time put me off in the end, that and not being able to test ride.

As someone that seems to sprint about a fair bit, you'd instantly notice the difference in stiffness.

If your legs are suffering already mate then get more than 2 days of good rest in them! If I'm struggling (with my tiny amount of miles compared to yours :p) I find I need 2 days at a minimum, especially if recovering from illness and a big ride (with no rest day afterwards).

Longer commute to mine then - currently 8 rides of 3.6-4.2 miles (depending on route). I tend to drive 1 day as I get packages delivered to work, usually Wiggle boxes...! ;)

I got to the stage (after more than a year of cycling just my commute) that I plateaued - my body could just about handle the distance (and lack of climbing...) and I found I could 'race' it all week (feel like I was pushing myself enough, I wasn't). It wasn't until I mixed in some weekend rides and different routes that I realised how 'conditioned' my body had become - any hill massacred me along with any slight change in distance. I couldn't even ride 15 miles without suffering for days afterwards! I had got into the mindset of pushing near threshold regardless of the conditions/ride/roads.

It wasn't until I'd done some longer distances (and hill repeats/training/turbo!) that my riding got more enjoyable and easier. I really didn't learn to properly pace myself until I'd suffered some hard 25-30 mile rides utterly burying myself! ;)

I use the chelsea bike they have all type of bikes in lower price and they have second hand bicycle and repair the bicycle and good working

I've made it to Sheffield! 85 miles, probably about 5000 feet, most of it in the back half. I averaged 14.6mph overall. I was tired from about 50 miles onwards so was limping up the hills with that soul crushing despair at how awful life was... But I made it!

Knackered now.

Did you check the neighbouring spokes on the same side as the loose one?

Regarding weight you're around the same height as me, similar weight to what I probably was autumn last year - I found the weight loss really tailed off at around 90kg, so much so I stopped weighing myself and just concentrated on my riding! Not seeing 'progress' (ie loss) can be quite annoying, I found my body shape changing (mainly loss of waist size) more of an encouragement :)

Yeah I noticed the wheel was out so I loosened off the spoke again and retightened it slightly and had a play with the others I til the wheel looked true enough for me.

Yeah I'm the same, it was aveeal effort to drop to 89kg so now I'm focussing on body fat, trying to turn my body into a well oiled lean machine rather than trying to get a kg off here and there haha. I've got a 30 day challenge to do that my mates half way through, he said its getting intense now so I'm gonna give it a shot, I'll email you it across!

i need to keep a strict diet and try cut down on some carbs!!

my legs feel fine too, even tho I did a crazy long 94 mile ride(by my standards) on sunday and around 12 hours later I was back on my bike commuting to work.. legs feel good, no knee pain.. etc!? odd.

I do find that after a big ride I tend to have an epic week cycling, weird how that works, and then for a week or two after I feel super human haha its very odd!

Good man! Congrats! Hard work in this Yorkshire weather today! How did the bike perform? No problems?

What was traffic like? Your legs make a difference? Haha

Feel glad to have done it?

Yeah, glad to have done it, quite an achievement. Could maybe have fared better in the hills in the afternoon if I'd not pulled so hard on the way into Manchester this morning - I was heading our group at about 21mph on some well known turf. Poor pacing, but hey ho. Am now stuck on a train back home with nothing to read and next to no phone battery so am gonna be boooooored.
