**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

Any decent docking stations for the note 4? Not looking to spend a huge amount but ideally looking for something that charges with decent current, syncs, allows otg and has hdmi out.

After reading the posts above about a quick draining battery, I thought I would do some sleuthing. These are my running apps since boot (around 24 hours). Any sneaky ones that shouldn't be here (e.g. Google Play Music - but will this hinder any other services if stopped?)?

  • Minimal clock (app - guess that's fine)
  • Lux (app - guess that's fine)
  • Greenify (fine)
  • SecurityManagerService (system - fine)
  • Passpoint Settings (system - fine)
  • Bluetooth (system - fine)
  • SmartcardService (system - fine)
  • Context Service (system - fine)
  • Google Services (system - fine)
  • Google Play Music (system - not fine as I don't use it)
  • PageBuddyNotiSvc (system - fine)
  • Quick connect (system - guess that's fine?)
  • Samsung Link Platform Connection (system - guess that's fine)?
  • Exchange Sevices (system - fine)
  • Smart Remote (system - guess that's fine?)
  • Unified Demon (system - fine)
  • com.sec.android.app.SmartClient (system - fine)
  • Swiftkey (app - fine)
  • Pushbullet (app - fine)
  • System UI (system - fine)

battery life doesn't seem to be as good. I used to be able to get at least 2 days out of a full charge for me. That included listening to Google Music at work and it didn't get much use after that at home. Now the phone tends to want charging after a day doing the same things.

Make sure all of your applications are updated, I dont think there was anything particular I remember removing but something must have worked.

After complaining about mine draining within such a short period of time, Im now currently on 7% after 1d 14hrs of standard usage.

Granted I dont sit and play on it all day, however I do watch a bit of youtube and stream music on google music quite a bit.

Make sure ya turn off your android phone occasionally, using it constantly and just topping up the charge without a restart has always made my phones seem a bit sluggish.

Just got the Note 4, having moved from my Sony Z3C, I'm looking for a location based wi-fi feature... I'm trying wifi matic, but wondering if anyone here has a tried and trusted app for this?

I downgraded to 4.4.4, because of this annoying WhatsApp popup notification thing and immediately took off auto checking for updates as soon as I could. About an hour later it's notifying me of an update is available and proceeds to download it.

I left it, just kept pressing back button on phone when it popped up that it's ready to install to postpone it. Thought I'd be able to do that indefinitely until I could find a way to stop it, but after a couple of days it decided to install itself.

Might have to try it again, but without a sim card in so it can't get access to the net before disabling auto checking for updates.

Also on lollipop, holding the power button on the lockscreen, and inside phone doesn't show options for Mute, Vibrate and Sound which I used to use a lot, annoying having to unlock the screen just to pull down the top bar to switch between them too.

Back on KitKat as of yesterday. Rooted and XPosed with all the google bloat removed and battery life is sweet once again. I'll try Lollipop maybe once that 5.1 update hits but for now it can simply gtfo.

I was sceptical the first time I installed Lollipop, but after upgrading again, it's MUCH better. Faster, better battery life, it just works.

The second time round, I wiped the phone after it had upgraded and did everything from scratch which helped a lot.

I picked up a note 4 edge last week to replace my 2 year old S4 which was rooted.

I'd like to root the note 4, but from what I have seen none of the methods out there can root without tripping KNOX. Is that right or are my google ninja skills lacking?

What sort of screen on times are people getting with lollipop?

Bad day 3.5-4 hours, good day 4-6 hours.

You are correct, it will trip KNOX. Flashing an official ROM via Odin is fine.

Since i got lolipop my battery life was poor, getting about 15 hours on a charge.

Not sure whats gone on but i have not charged my phone since 9am yesterday, im still on 55% battery, not changed my usage habits.

Looking at 3.5 days on this charge.
