Got Caught Speeding Last Night

Live and learn mate, been lucky, three times pulled and walked off with a handshake and no points. Also, look at the end of the day you walked away and its going to go away eventually, you'll laugh at it one day, wound is fresh. Could have been worse in the big picture its a minor.

I'm not butt hurt; you just take the context of posts completely the wrong way.
I won't go to court and say that; I'll most likely plead guilty by post and take whatever punishment I get. Was just asking as per my OP
I'd go to court personally, I've always thought the postal system just makes you look like you don't care.
Attend with a prepared letter about regret, first offence etc. Don't mention the brakes, the temporary speed limit or how fast you didn't think you were going.

Well that's for them to decide isn't it?. They'll send you a letter which will either allow you to plead guilty by post or tell you to go to court on whatever day. If they want you in court then you can't plead guilty by post. Always thought that was how it worked, but then I've never been caught doing almost double the speed limit so I don't know exactly
Always figured its a 40 looking at the size of the road / people cant cross the road except at the lights

interesting site. just had a quick look on street view. no speed signs along this road.
saying that i try and avoid reading town center as much as possible.

In towns and cities, it's safe to consider the limit to be 30 mph unless there's a sign saying different.
There is no hard or fast ban or points rule, there is jsut 'guidelines' and its up to the magistrate at the time. You could be lucky and get points (assuming you are not a new driver and 6 points = retest time) or a ban, the fine is means tested.
eg i got banned for 93 in a 50, 42 days and £300 fine (i was on about £750 gross a week then).
It was an SP30 (like yours will be) so didnt actually make much difference to my insurance but i was in the my 30's.
I'd never had any points or convictions etc before (or since actually) and pleaded guilty, this didnt seem to make much difference. I'd read of people in similar circumstances getting 6 points for example.

Thanks for the info guys. I've just bought myself a Halfords 200 piece professional socket set to both cheer myself up, and prepare to do a lot of work on the car if it turns out it's off the road for a while.
