I'm not sure that's true for many of the southern states but we'll never know for sure.

My point was that often governments drive social change with legislation, leading the way for social opinions to change. A yes vote in a referendum on the issue shows social opinion driving legislative change. Surely you can see the difference?

As I been saying all along, incest is the next step on the slippery slope, the first gay brothers getting married in church 2020? Then will be paedophilia, I'm sure some won't stand in their way to and may even vote for it. After all it won't effect them in no way, shape or form.
 
So because dogs might be able to marry a fork in the future you shouldn't allow consenting adults to get married?

The reason paedophilia is illegal is because children aren't mature enough to know what is happening, it is a form of trust abuse. Legally they cannot consent to marriage so try again.

Legally... Is this the same legal system that says something is illegal and then in a life time says it's fine and defends it.

Are you implying paedophilia will be legal one day ? If not, what the hell are you talking about ? Yes laws change, but some things like murder, theft and paedophilia will always be illegal as our legal system is designed to arbitrate for the greater good.

Murder and the great quest of sexual liberation to destroy traditional values is two different kettle of fish. Being homosexual was illegal, now legal, animal sex was illegal now legal in some EU states, already people on the forum saying incest doesn't bother them and may even vote for it. So is it really so far out there that paedophilia could be on the table? Jonathan Hari said (to great applause for his courage) that paedophiles are the biggest victim group. Already in Holland there is a political party for their rights.

Yes, it is pretty far out. It's a matter of consent. Adults can give their consent so homosexual acts were legalised. Children can't give their consent so paedophilia will remain illegal.

Why can't children give their consent? Age of consent laws in this country have dropped. Campaigners such as Peter Tatchell want the age of consent to drop further.

If society that decides that a child can give consent, then why shouldn't paedophilia be embraced?

Paedophiles are born that way and it is just bigotry to discriminate against them. I am disgusted at the amount of paedophobia in society today. Love is love.
