How much did it cost you get married?

Can't remember exactly but it was about £8k for the wedding and £5k for honeymoon (including what we spent).

Only things I would change from a saving money perspective are:
-Should have spent less on evening food, there was a LOT left over (majority of guests were present at the sit down meal which went on til fairly late afternoon).
-Photographer was OK but didn't feel like a grands worth. Then again we did get a few very good pics that maybe an 'amateur' wouldn't have lined up.

It's a bit crazy thinking how much one spends on a single day, but then again it should (in theory) be a one-off. Cliched I know, but it genuinely was the best day of my life. And probably still would have been spending half the money, but it would really have sucked to be thinking 'damn, wish I hadn't been so tight and spent a bit more'.

I think it is possible to get married fairly cheaply and still a good wedding; I was surprised by how reasonable some (not all) elements were (e.g. Church was well under a grand including bell-ringing etc), so if you pick and choose should be fine.

Raymond did do at least one shoot. Didn't he do Freefaller and BrightonBelle's one?

e: content. We spent a lot but we did do it twice; once in St Andrews and once in New Zealand. I don't really get the whole hype about having to spend [x] amount of money to make sure it's the best day of your life. I think marrying the best person in the world probably makes it the best day of your life, and then all of the future ones which follow are a nice bonus :)

lol, national average for a wedding togs around £1500 i think now so yeah on that basis you got a cheap on. as the saying goes you get what you pay for.

Amusingly our photographer was one of the cheapest bits of the wedding at £700. Was highly recommended by a friend though and got some great pics. :)

It must be like working in a meat factory being a wedding Photographer, i could imagine how bloody boring it is shooting the same old mutten dressed as lamb shots, jump in the air, say cheese or sausages, cutting the droid cakes with the all the people clapping whooooo:(

Are you getting upset about other people making very, very good money from doing something they're good at and that their customers enjoy and then treasure?

I can't understand your angle here. it's either +++ BEEP BOOP I AM A ROBOT AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE WORK BEEP BOOP +++ or it's ... uh, well, it's that.

And after a year the album goes in the attic where it stays until your kids grow up and you show them what Mummy & Daddy did unless you've split up by then.

No not at all, i know how people work you don't have to explain to me lol, but taking wedding pics would drive me bonkers whatever the price.

I dunno; reading the results of historical surveys suggests £1000 was actually slightly above average when we booked it.

Mrs Timberlake?

Did you know that Jessica 'The Monster and Heartbreaker' Biel is not recognised as an actual person by any definition I define? There is some pretty serious debate going on over at ATS and other cretinous sites where they can probably show this.

I'm glad he's happy though, even if it is with a non-person who doesn't exist and MOM, DID HE GET MY LETTER, you were SUPPOSED TO SEND IT, and NONE OF THIS - excuse me, none of this .. I'm sorry - none of this would have happened, it's just so tragic for me and everyone but mainly me.

I think the issues are mainly resolved which is cute.

Funny, I got married yesterday. We went for a weekday (although not sure that is much cheaper anymore) and 63 guests for the day and about 100 total in the evening.

We lucked out with the photographer (whole day) and the cake (which was awesome) which cost us £300 total, her dad has a immaculate TR6 plus I did a raspberry pi photo booth thing for under £50.

Food was great, venue was nice and we managed a small drinks package and buffet in the evening (which was hardly touched).

We also did flowers ourselves and the table centre pieces, table plans etc. The only decoration we paid for were the chair covers which were definitely worth the cost. A friend did the dj for mates rates.

We would have done a few things differently but overall it was great and it cost, £7300 including rings and registrar. Family gave us a bit of money and people were very generous with gifts so cost to ourselves was probably in the region of £1500 and was all done and dusted 6 months after proposing.

Under £700.

Had the ceremony in the local town hall, then a house party back home, Around 25-30 guest, all very informal. Biggest cost was the buffet which we didn't scrimp on (love our food).

I will always remember rolling up to the suit hire shop on the Tuesday.
'I need a suit for a wedding on Thurday', owner replies 'well you have sure left it late, who is getting married?' 'Me', owner replies with a look of shock 'your frickin having me on, right?'

We are pretty low maintenance people anyway so it was just what wanted. There was no way I was going to pay thousands for bog standard generic wedding.

We did spend lots on rings, and an amazing honeymoon, not to mention the landscaped garden the Mrs wanted with the savings!

We didn't spend a fortune like some in here. It was a fairly modest amount as items such as catering, cars, photographers were all given to us for free. If we hadn't got all these goodies then it still would have been a modest amount as we all thought it was more important to get help with a deposit rather than blow it on one day.

5k cermony and small lunch for 100
3k outfits and flowers and rings
1k photographer
15k evening meal for 300
3k honeymoon

cash gifts from guests were about £15k which offset a lot of the cost.

For all the questions about the Indian wedding, fortunately I am a Christian so the wedding wasn't as long as it usually is for a hindu ceremony. However the customs still persist. So the ceremony was split across 2 days.

To avoid the heat my wedding was in the evening :) which was much better.

In India the Brides family usually pay for everything bar the wedding chain (yes chain rather than ring). However since our wedding wasn't arranged and her family weren't that well off, I paid for most of it. After the ceremony finishes you have to stand around receiving gifts from people.. so this went on from 19:30-02:00 we were so knackered.

Since her wider family did not approve of me either, we required body guards to be walking around too. Since we had threats of disruption etc..

8 years ago now. Hope never to get married again ;)

Well within what we could afford and some very generous gifts from family. We wanted to put aside enough for honeymoon and not go OTT. It is probably a lot more than some would pay but less than the UK average.

We also wanted to spoil ourselves for our honeymoon and splash out a little.
