Witcher 3

So, I reached level 14 last night...

Based on the game time so far and the hundreds of pages of content in the prima guide I haven't got to yet, I sold it for ££ earlier.

It's an amazing game but there is almost too much rpg content and I couldn't see me playing it out in a single player rpg world. The combat also needs more variety like say Skyrim or Shadow of Mordor.

Notwithstanding, I got to the full first tier cat school armour which was nice and finished up with 40k gold plus a load of inventory stock.

I am sure I will pick this up again when it's on offer.

Took the plunge and bought this yesterday, hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow or wednesday! Loved The Witcher. Played it on the PC a few years ago. However i've not played Witcher 2.

What an odd way of doing things.

Basically, I got bored with it in reality far too quickly for my expectations. So I sold it whilst it still had value. I got great value out of £10 though which was my loss on sale.

Whilst I didn't read the guide in detail, so as not to spoil the game, I did glance it through and it is much a muchness / rinse and repeat for another 200-300+ hours.

It's technically a great game but with all the depth, quantity and game time requirement of a big mmorpg, devoid of social interaction to break the monotomy, it would be a tough grind for me.

The time it took to get to level 14 out of 70 for a single player RPG imo was excessive, given how much content/weapons/armour is reserved for a much higher level.

Combat is too limited to make grinding through mobs fun which for games like shadow of mordor or skyrim gives great replay / distraction value.

So the game relies on the script/story (excellent) and slow pace exploration. I don't think it incentivises combat in a fun way, but that is my personal opinion.

It's a great game but it does get a little repetitive after a while. I find if I play for a couple of hours at a time I do ok.

I found the XP from questing vastly out weighs what you get from mob killing and I think that's how it's meant to be played. Grinding for mobs is just not the way.

What an odd way of doing things.

I did the same thing. Leveled up to 17 and got to the start of the Isle of Mist missions. But got bored as it had become repetitive and battles have become quite easy hack and slash affairs. Side missions were boring as hell, loads of errands boy type stuff, giving you very little XP. So theres no way I could level up without it turning into a chore.

Sold it for more than I paid for it, so worked out well.

Haha thought exactly this. I think I might sell this game and buy it again when it's on offer....

That said, for me I have just reached Novigrad. Only level 9 but seem to be doing ok. Velen was a bit of a bleak place and that Keira, what a *****!! Soon took care of her ass.

I must have taken care of it in a totally different way!

she lives on in my game and has been sent to safety...maybe I can collect a whole posse of sexy witches

I was riding around yesterday and a Griffin that was a much higher level than me just appeared out of nowhere and insta-killed me :(

went for a boat ride in the skellig isles..saw a whale..then a creature grabbed hold of the side of the boat and wouldnt let go till I let go of the helm, got up and hacked its head off!

I have a serious gwent addiction.

Yep, i noticed myself slowly getting agitated as my opponent randomly pulls out level 10 hero cards and brings in a score over 70 :D

I hope they make it so you have to hold A to mount roach, forever jumping off roach to attack some mobs and rolling next to roach and mounting mid combat!

Gwent is good fun but against anyone half decent you need to have picked up loads of good cards. I spent about 5 hours doing gwent related quests and playing people for better cards before I had a deck good enough to beat anyone.

Its surprisingly tactical and well made when both decks are of a similar quality. The hero cards do unbalance it a little though with their immunity to abilities etc but I guess that is evened out in some way by their immunity to boosts as well.

I missed the Innkeeper bit from the first zone so i am a few cards down. I am buying as i see venders though which is making me skint all the time. Problem is no cards im buying is for the Deck i can actually use :(

I think I'm about lvl 12, and like some others I did the Gwent intro, lost the match, and haven't touched it since.

I still have a few greyed out Gwent quests. Is it too late to spend a few hours playing and trying to learn it, or have I missed out on lots of the best bits?

Got a usable deck for each faction, bar monster deck. Which coincidentally seems to be the hardest to win against if you don't get a biting frost :p
