***The Official LG Optimus G2 Thread***

I got my G2 yesterday and it's now my favourite phone I've had yet.
I liked the G3 but it was a bit too big and the G2 is just the right size. Plus the screen is superb.

ROMing it :D It came with 4.4.2 stock on and I actually really liked it. I was tempted to keep it.....for a few hours at least.

I have mine with the stock 5 update and it works really well. I also had the G3 first and I find the G2 considerably nicer.

I'm still rocking Cloudy's G3 rom still on KK, and ill be looking at upgrading to LP now that xprivacy is working on xposed.

I'm getting serious gadget envy, and want a new device but need something that handily beats the G2's battery life. The z3 is an option but the CPU bump isn't worth it, but the z3+ could be if it has similarly stellar batter life.

Which ROM are you going to use? Tried flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development-d802/rom-xenonhd-d802-t3036576 recently, but failed because I was on lollipop firmware. Thinking of trying again though, or do you have any suggestion?

I'm on Validus.
I've no idea what firmware I'm on but I'm guessing KK as I was on stock KK before I flashed.

*edit*
I've just updated my bootstack. If you're on TWRP 2.8.5.0 or higher then flash this in recovery(it will say it's for D800 but it's been named wrong), reboot recovery and you shouldn't have problems flashing LP ROMs. I've tried Validus and BlissPop and they work fine

Never heard of AICP before, what's it like? Can't find any mention of it on xda d802 dev forum, where else do you find these ROMs

edit: as in where do you come across them, not where can I find them

I'm on the G3 now but fired up my old G2 the other day and there are still plenty of things I much prefer about that older handset than my current device.

Tbh the only thing I hate with the G2 which was the same on G3 is the weak signal reception. It always looses signal in my house and takes ages to get it back. My Wifes Moto G always has at least 2 bars on the same network. If I go anywhere the G2 always fights to stay connected. I had the same issue with the G3 and people are saying the G4 also has this issue.

It's annoying to say the least as everything else about the phone is perfect for me.

That worked it's now updating.

Cheers

Quick question if you don't mind MOOGLEYS. Is there an OTA to lollipop for the G2 D802? Or is it only updateable using that link from the previous page and that downloadable support tool thingy?

This is not for me but my bro has a G2 and still hasn't been updated...

Thanks.

I have no idea tbh. I did mine using the lg software as I kept reading it was released but I never got any update notifications for OTA ?

It does seem that the G2 & G3 will be getting Android M so maybe they are holding off OTA updates until thus is released.

Thanks MOOGLEYS, I've been looking out for it for him and like you I kept hearing that it was out, he keeps telling me he's received no updates. I'll perhaps point him at that previous page and the lg support tool.

Still got mine, can't see anything worth changing to, doing well 2 and a 1/4 years old. I'd recommend as a cheap phone if you can get a bargain!
