Seen it all before, it is company standard procedure to say denied first then confirmed later.

They denied interested to acquired ATI.
They denied plan to sell fabs and go fabless.
They denied plan to sell assets.

It was the denied the Lizard people are in charge of the world too!!

But who knows!!

But I like how you missed all the Intel layoffs:

Intel is DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!!

I don't understand why AMD had to buy ATI (putting aside the fact that they tried to buy Nvidia first which the deal feel down at the last moment) in the first place. If they needed graphics technology they could have licenced I.P from either Nvidia, ATI or even maybe someone like Imagination/Power VR and used that to integrate into its CPU's. Would have been a lot cheap the 5 five and half billion.

ATI were doing just fine when AMD bought them out btw, the graphics card market back then was very back and forth at that point in time.

He has a point ^

So does a broken record.

Look at his posting history.

According to him the Fury X is doomed since people would buy secondhand GTX980 cards people sold from buying GTX980TI cards.

Edit!!

One of his posts:

Was read on many forums, alots were not impressed with Fury X performance neck to neck with Titan X, Fury expected to be 10% slower than Fury X so it put Fury at GTX 980 OC level but lots of owners overclocked it to 1.4 and 1.5GHz core. AMD will have huge challenge to sell Fury and Fury X cards with same performance as 980 Ti and Titan X, many people will be glad to keep GTX 980 with monster 1.5GHz core that is faster than Fury and others will sell it cheap second hand when they upgrade it to 980 Ti. Both GTX 980 and 980 Ti are very attractive products and prices now.

So Fury series is doomed due to secondhand GTX980 cards which everyone will buy,but not GTX980TI and Titan X since all the people will sell GTX980 cards to buy GTX980TI cards with similar performance but all the secondhand GTX980 cards will doom the Fury ones but not the GTX980TI and Titan X.

But apparently the GTX980 is not doomed by the cheaper and similar performing GTX970.

AMD is doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed.

Lol 'attractive products and prices'. 500+ for a single chip card is about as an attractive propersition as Vennesa Felts stripping of for the cover of a lads mag.

Yeah, reading about it more ATi were not doing too bad. Lost market share the quarter prior to takeover, but like you say it was fairly back and forth back then.

They lost a load of market share straight after, as by being part of AMD they'd entered into direct competition with Intel, who were licensing a number of their technologies.

AMD getting smart on their impending demise. first they split all their fabs off and call it global foundries. now the gpu side to go back to ati. this way when amd goes bankrupt all assets will not be lost.

I personally see AMD in a very strong position, they can offer what neither nvidia or intel can really offer, APUs with HBM for laptop gaming in the medium and high end in a compact design, christ laptops could become truly upgradable with an APU swopout. A messy upgrade mind unless they totally revolutionise laptop design. Same with the console market, they should be set for many generations on all consoles, this will benefit them in the long term as games are designed for their architecture. If The expectations of Zen and Fury are fulfilled which is only in the ballpark of the competitions high end, Fury looks to be just that, Zen is yet to be seen and 16 cores doesn't fill me with confidence, 8 bigger cores with hyperthreading given DX12 at the moment seems to tail off with 6 cores, nut lets see in a year I guess.

Yeah sounds like sop for a company in trouble spin off and "sell" the profitable parts of the bussiness leaving the debt tied to the original company. Wait a few months limping on to give some protection against accusations of foul play then declare bankruptcy with the parent company.

All boardmembers go on to jobs in the new companies while there creditors are left in the lurch. It's that comon it even has a name Phoenix Companies.

AMD's demised has been 'impending' for many years now. Yet they are still here. Every now and again we hear AMD are doomed. Yet they are still here.

Agreed, AMD have put in motion a foundation for next decade in computing, using HBM and new architecture to establish strong performing products that can be used in a wide array of platforms. Fiji is just the start.

Couple their graphics architecture with upcoming Zen architecture and HBM and that could be a staple for laptops, mini PC's. New consoles and more. AMD are moving in the right direction.

Now that AMD have officially commented on this latest FUD. Shouldn't this thread be closed?

Article is total nonsense and more than likely there is no source - it was made up.

Doing this would offer no advantages to either side of the business, or value to shareholders or potential buyers. Everything AMD has worked towards (HSA, HBM) requires the two parts of the business to work closely together, and it would torpedo the custom and semi-custom plans and design wins they already have.

I give 0.0000001% credence to this.

No it not nonsense, reuters would not made up AMD financial news if you looked up past reuters financial news articles on AMD.

http://www.reuters.com/search/news?blob=amd

I found 1 past exclusive news on AMD:

Exclusive: AMD hires bank to explore options - sources

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/11/14/us-amd-jpmorgan-idUSBRE8AC14Z20121114

Would not go beyond 2012 articles, I recalled there was reuters articles about AMD acquired ATI and AMD fabless.

The confidential information on AMD spin off GPU division has to be coming from AMD whistleblowers.

I like how this "rumour" which has been debunked is not stated as rumour in the title or even the OP,where instead its stated as fact. Funny thing about the timing. You wouldn't think AMD is launching a new card next week, would you?? :D

NV FG FTW.

;)

Edit!!

Remember this post the OP made:

Was read on many forums, alots were not impressed with Fury X performance neck to neck with Titan X, Fury expected to be 10% slower than Fury X so it put Fury at GTX 980 OC level but lots of owners overclocked it to 1.4 and 1.5GHz core. Both GTX 980 and 980 Ti are very attractive products and prices now.

So people will not buy a Fury or Fury X since a secondhand overclocked GTX980 is faster but will sell their faster GTX980 cards to buy slower GTX980TI and Titan X cards, which are not affected by the secondhand and faster GTX980 cards.

AMD is doooooooooooooomed!

He will never own an AMD card I bet too!

Edit!!

I was almost right!! He owned one,but OFC it was a failure.

Not the FX5900 Ultra which was the bestest.

VideoLogic GrafixStar 410 S3 Trio64 2MB
3dfx Voodoo 1 4MB
3dfx Voodoo Banshee 16MB
3dfx Voodoo 5 5500 64MB
Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti 4600 128MB
Nvidia Geforce FX 5900 Ultra 128MB
Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT 256MB (Died & RMAed)
Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT 128MB (Sold after received 6800 GT RMA)
Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX 512MB
Nvidia Geforce 7900 GTX 512MB
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB
ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB (Worst driver and very poor games performance RMAed & refunded)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 896MB
Nvidia Geforce GTX 470 1280MB
Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 SC 4GB
Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 4GB

Next card in 2016

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 16GB HBM2? :cool::D

Yes,he thought Nvidia is so great he was an FX5900 user.

Funny how all these NV users are posting these doom and gloom threads at the start of an AMD launch.

Then when its debunked, keep the FUD train running.

Even if Fury is any good,I bet he will say,AMD is doomed -don't buy eeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Where is his Intel is doomed thread with their announced reductions in workforce??

Oh,wait there isn't one.

Ummmm... this is known as fraudulent conveyance in the US BK law and any such transaction would be voided by the BK trustee. Not too many dumb corporates around who think they can pull this off, I don't know of any actually, especially not the publicly traded ones. Companies with Boards, in house counsel, governance structure, you know that kind of thing, tend not to violate the law blatantly... lol
So, no AMD won't be able to pull it off.. I am stating this conclusion just in case someone misreads the obvious...
Not sure what this "avoidance of debt" is called in Europe/ EU... lol

You can't really argue with 'monster 1.5Ghz core'.

It obviously spawned lots of trolls!! :D

I'm sure when Intel start making qtr on qtr losses, massively cut their R&D budget and ship market share the threads will appear.

Even when Intel cut 16000 jobs a while back, there was hardly even a stir here.

All the "concern" is from people who never would buy an AMD or ATI card even when they were doing very well financially.

The OP is a prime example.

Its just all trolling and FUD which is timed since AMD are launching their new series next week.

The last time I have seen so much on forums was around 2009ish.

On top of this I suspect plenty of you buy discounted stuff in sales and so on I suspect you don't even really care how well companies are doing in reality.

Its just more E-PEEN.

Edit!!

I expect when you lot go into get some milk,I suspect you would never touch a Tesco - too many losses.

Not Sainsbury's either. Losses.

Not Asda.Losses.

Not Morrisons. Losses.

Waitrose then.

Aldi and Lidl too.

I suspect in reality like with 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999% of the population nobody really cares including said posters.

If anyone did care the £4.8 trillion we have in national debt means we are essentially bankrupt as a country.

I don't see many of the same posters who are so worried about finances starting threads about that.

No but it fits the narrative of the OP since he has already deemed Zen a failure according to his OP.

By extension AMD is doomed as a whole.

Only buy Nvidia. Done.

Haha. What have supermarket chains got do with the graphic card business. It is just not even comparable :)
